this has mentions nothing about any work on a new album...

^indeed. but it mentions they have been writing.

and that alone excites me.

oh that's cool, disc 1 of in rainbows was way better than disc 2. Thom Yorke. Coolest rocker with a lazy eye ever.

"The band's guitarist Ed O'Brien told the BBC that they were “really excited” by the music that they have created so far. “First we came off tour to do some writing and we wanted to just carry on doing it because it was so brilliant,” he said."

That's basically the only crucial info alluding to the headline, making the rest of the article from there just filler.

Me and my friends we're having the 'who's the best British band ever?' discussion, and I strongly maintain that it is Radiohead. Looking forward to hearing this new material.

If Thom Yorke weren't doing the vocals I might be interested. I don't like his voice at all, but the rest of the band is decent.

Flea, I'd contend that the Beatles take that cake.

Hopefully we'll get another album soon, ... sort of like how they released Kid A and then shortly after Amnesiac.

This is excellent news. It's so hard to wait two or three years (sometimes more)for the next release from one of your favorite bands. (P.S. Death Magnetic today!!)

How come Elbow don't get their own article about winning the mercury music prize? They totally deserve it, as cool as In Rainbows was. It couldn't have gone to a nicer, more deserving band.

It's unfortunate that they said the whole "Pay what you want" idea was a one time only thing. Oh well, In Rainbows was a good album but not their best. I can't lie though, I am looking forward to new material.

I love Radiohead. They are my favorite band...but if you are talking best British band EVER?.....I would go with either Beatles or Zeppelin or Stones.

Though technically most fans have known they're working on new music. Obviously there is Super Collider and then they have a host of songs they just haven't gotten to recording that are supposedly really good. Apparently Nude was one of those songs so Radiohead still has some more tricks up their sleeve.
POSTED: 09/12/2008 - 01:03 pm / quote |
nanaya :
They still have tons of unreleased material to work with. Maybe they've gotten comfortable enough to work on a new version of Lift that's rocky as when they debuted it in 94 and is mellow as when they played it in 2002 during the Pre-HTTT tour.

And theres Follow Me Around too, another RH song that saw some time during the 2003 tour and the 2006 tour. Being played once during each tour shows they still haven't completely forgotten about that song too.

there was excitement surrounding them in the 90's, but not so much anymore... maybe people got sick of music meant to treat insomnia.

i would say that radiohead is in no way something "fashionable to like these days". they in no way conform to media standards...they dont even conform to a certain specific genre of music. The difference types and sounds of music album to album is huge. I actually know more people who dislike radiohead instead of likeing them.

in rainbows i thought was great tho. cant wait for another album...i just hope it doesnt take another 5 ears or more to release it, like the gap between Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows. bangin

agreed. while I like in rainbows, its pretty mediocre in comparison to some of there other albums...

...also, UG headlines seem to be REALLY odd today.

I love ultimate guitar, but lately they've been very misleading with these articles. They're like Jimmy Hendrix returned from the dead and recorded with John Paul Jones,Danny Carey, and a barber shop quartet and then your like holy sh**!!!!Then you open the article and it says "Jimmy Hendrix will be in a new guitar hero" and not even mention Jones, Carey, or most depressingly, the barber shop quartet...But anyway, new Radiohead would be fuggin great:]

I so agree with you. Gets people all excited and then they are like "Oh, that's it?"

When they do come out with an new album that will be really cool I am guessing it won't be for a while though.

I really liked In Rainbows and stuff, but I hope it's something more like OK Computer or something this time. 3 albums with electronic drumbeats and whatnot gets kind of monotonous. In Rainbows was a bit of a departure, but I really wanna hear a more raw album without as much electronic influence.

i hope its more bends/OK ish, but Kid A and HTTT are great albums. You just have to be patient to find the genious in there.

That said, go radiohead.

I knew someone would mention the Beatles. I would say they are the most influential, but personally I think Radiohead are a better band. Obviously, it's all personal opinion, and it may seem controversial to claim that Radiohead are better than Zeppelin, the Stones etc., but I just think they are a better band. OK Computer = Best album of all time.

Going by their usual rule that their first and last tracks on each album generally give away what the next album will sound like, that means that the new stuff will either be very dance-punk style (15 Step) or piano ballads (Videotape). Since Videotape is one of my all time favourite RH songs, if it's like this it's gonna rock.

Radiohead is nice, but it's one of those bands people really obsess over because it's actually completely middle-of-the-road. It's too complicated to be in the top40, but it's way too simple to actually have any deepness that might take some time and effort to create/understand or any musical greatness. The harmonies are simple, the lyrics rather shallow, the structures completely pop. It's pretty much the epitome of adult pop. Google it.
POSTED: 11/07/2008 - 11:04 pm / quote |
nathantayloryes :
The fact that Radiohead have continued to make inspirational music and covered new ground on each release without caring what anybody else thinks makes them more rock and roll than anything else could.
