Rage Against The Machine Frontman To Release One Day As A Lion EP

artist: rage against the machine date: 07/02/2008 category: upcoming releases
Rage Against The Machine Frontman To Release One Day As A Lion EP

One Day As A Lion, the project featuring Zach De La Rocha (vocalist for Rage Against The Machine) and Jon Theodore (former drummer of The Mars Volta) has inked a deal with Anti Records. The group's eponymous debut EP is scheduled for release on July 22.

One Day As A Lion's sound is described in a press release as "a defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It's a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask.

According to the band, One Day As A Lion's name was "taken from the infamous 1970 black-and-white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez, featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: 'It's better to live one day as a lion than a thousand years as a lamb.' This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.
"

"One Day As A Lion" was recorded by Robert Carranza at Ocean Way Recording and was mixed by Mario C at MCJ Studio.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Wild International
02. Ocean View
03. Last Letter
04. If You Fear Dying
05. One Day As A Lion

Typical, his solo career dwindles to near non-existence during Audioslave's crusade, now that RATM are back on-track he goes and pursues this! I hope this isn't some kind of power-play he's doing...

I love RATM and all but Zack is NOT versatile. In the words of Indigo Montoya "That word. I do not think it means what you think it means".

5 tracks better not cost me $10+ or the money better go to starving hippie fetuses in under-developed communist nations or some crap like that.

you can't even spell versatile correctly, it's no wonder you misconstrue its meaning.

I love RATM, but I'd rather not see another album, they've all done their own things and had their glory. Everyone will always remember them for what they've already done, I'd like to keep that memory and not see them go down the drain like Metallica did with St. Anger, it is for this same reason, I do not think Zeppelin should do new material. I'm not here to bash anyone, that is just my thoughts.

whoa, easy there tiger. ZDLR is definitely the man for the job when it comes to RATM. I can't imagine anyone else being the frontman. And I LIKE RATM! But please, versatile means he can do a lot of different stuff. So point out to me where he has really sung (I know he has once or twice on cover songs, but it was pretty weak), and that the lyrics were about something other than rebelling against American politics and capitalism.

I don't think he's versatile but i do think he's a great vocalist. Not only are his vocals nice to listen to but the lyrics are pretty cool aswell which is important for his vocal style.
I think if you want to look at versatility you need to check out Opeth or Benighted. Opeth have an amazing voalist who can sing really well and then put on a monstrous roar when he needs it. The guy from Benighted can go from a scream to a grunt in like a second.

But i look forward to this.

Lyrics?

Yeah. Lets write MORE songs about capitalism. That'll show 'em!

Metal tries too hard to be political these days. It was cool when MegaDeth kind of did it, now it's just being worn out.

Not to hate on RAtM or De La Rocha. This is still gonna be a kick-ass album.
