The official web site of German industrial metallers Rammstein has been updated with the following message:
"No words can describe how happy we were to receive an official invitation to a listening of the first three Rammstein songs from the upcoming album. Three uncompromising songs and three attacks upon 'common taste and morality.' An album isn't an album until the last line has been sung and the final note has sounded. However, it's no big secret to tell you about our great enthusiasm. Just like many others, we can't wait. All departments of the good ship Rammstein are running on full steam! There are already more than 150.000 ticket requests for the tour that will start at the end of this year. Stockholm let us nibble and we still have the sweet taste of the ripe fruits in our mouths. Well, we are not worried about our and your welfare anymore..."
Rammstein recorded the initial tracks for the new album in Los Angeles with Jacob Hellner and the production team of Ulf Kruckenberg and Florian Ammon. A studio was rented near San Francisco for the bulk of the main recording work.
Rammstein's "Völkerball" DVD was released in North America in September 2007. The disc features performances from France, England, Japan and Russia. The DVD was released in three different formats. The standard two-disc DVD/CD package contains a 140-minute live video and 75-minute live CD. The special-edition package also includes a tour documentary and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Reise, Reise". Finally, the limited collectors' edition contains four discs packaged in a 190-page book with photos from the tour.
Rammstein's last album, "Rosenrot", received its long-overdue U.S. release in March 2006 via Universal Music. The CD, which was certified platinum in Germany for sales in excess of 200,000 copies within two weeks of release in October 2005, topped the official album chart in Germany, Austria and Finland, and landed at No. 2 in Sweden and Denmark, No. 4 in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, No. 5 in France, No. 6 in Mexico, No. 11 in Italy and No. 29 in the U.K. In addition, "Rosenrot" achieved gold status in Austria, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

: This is gonna be awesome.
Quick question for Rammstein fans though,
Is it true that, generally speaking, Rammstein are unliked in Germany? Obviously Americans make up a HUGE amount of the band's Fanbase, but how do they feel about it in Germany, where people ACTUALLY understand what they're singing about?POSTED: 04/27/2009 - 12:34 pm / quote |

And on the subject of them being unliked in Germany, lots of metal bands aren't liked by the majority of people in the country where thet are from, but there must be a very large, strong fan group there.POSTED: 04/27/2009 - 01:02 pm / quote |

Finally, here's a German answering to your question
It's a bit strange with Rammstein here in Germany. There are really a lot of fans here, but there are also some organizations doing youth protection. Of course, those organizsation hate Rammstein and try to ban their music, because its "bad for children" and stuff like that. Until today, they failed, though.POSTED: 04/27/2009 - 01:11 pm / quote |

Is is not necessarily true that they are "disliked," just not as appealing to the particular crowd there as it does here. I have been to Germany and have a very close friend there that listens to similar music that I do, and she would compare Rammstein's popularity in Germany to Nickelback's (which I despise, and hopefully many of you do too, lol) in the US. However, we all know how popular Nickelback has become--BUT at the same time, we know what kind of fan-base this bands attracts as well.
So yeah, just put two and two together.POSTED: 04/27/2009 - 01:12 pm / quote |

Nickelback are Canadian. If you think their popularity in the US is bad, think about us Canadians. We have laws where 1/3 of our radio stations have to play Canadian artists. It sucks ass. I'm listening to a Nickelback song ever 15 minutes on the radio.POSTED: 04/27/2009 - 09:19 pm / quote |

: Gosh there's a lot of speculation going on..
Comparing Rammstein with Nickelback, even just for popularity, is comparing apples and oranges due to 2 totally different genres and music landscapes.
Amongst the native bands in Germany Rammstein shares a pool of fans pretty much with "Toten Hosen" and "Boehse Onkels".
Both Bands are like Rammstein very controversial, and are far from mainstream. Each of the three have their own style, yet 'talking' to the same generations.
The Boehse Onkelz called it quit about 2 years ago, and that makes Rammstein only bigger now.
As of right now, one can easily say that the band is the Number 1 in Germany.
Translating their songs does for sure not make someone laugh. Or else the person doesn't understand the meaning at all. Most songs revolve around taboo subjects and that very fact keeps them away from mainstream.
