Red Hot Chili Peppers End Break After Two Years

The lengthy Red Hot Chili Peppers hiatus is over - the band has announced it will reconvene in October.

Drummer Chad Smith, who used his downtime to form supergroup Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar, insists he and his bandmates plan to "jam" together for the first time in two years this autumn, ending reports of a split.

Smith tells Billboard.com:

"Everybody was like, 'Y'know, I really like having this time off, not being a Chili Pepper and doing other things... It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready.

"You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever - not in our band, anyway."

Well it hasn't actually aired on TV yet (I think it was only announced earlier this year..?) but it's based on Scar Tissue, I think in the 70's when he was living with his dad. It has the potential to be really funny if you ask me, I thought Scar Tissue was awesome. I wouldn't have bought it, but I preordered Stadium Arcadium at HMV and Scar Tissue came with it for free .

But yeah this is great news, hopefully they'll be no delay. I've recently I decided that I don't like some of Anthonys vocals, just the ones where it's supposedly rap and they sound as stupid as anything, but when he actually sings it's great.

I saw Chickenfoot in Shepherds Bush and Chad Smith blew me away with his drumming (and commitment after shredding his right arm from falling off his kit) then saw AC/DC the next day at Wembley. Myself and my mate said to each other after seeing both shows, what other band in the world right now would we be willing to make a 300 mile trip to go and see? We could only think of 1 band and that was the Chili's!!!

Chickenfoot can jam but I really can't stand Hagar too much. He reminds me too much of the eighties and most of his lyrical content involves shallow sexual stuff with some young woman...and he's kinda old so it's not a pretty picture. Don't like his voice very much either, he kinda brings Chickenfoot a whole notch down imo.

And it seems ironic, becaue Kiedis used to be extremely sexual in lyrical content, and wasn't that great of singer. But he's gotten way better and I'd never give up the Kiedis/Frusciante vocal duo. RHCP have been my favorite band and musical influence since I've been into rock music and I'm totally psyched they are getting back to work.
