Harmonix is planning to release six full albums by the end of the year for the video game franchise.
With the release of Rock Band 2 only weeks away, developer Harmonix have revealed that in addition to the release of Rush’s “Moving Pictures” in the coming weeks, would-be rockers can anticipate six more albums before the end of the year.
These albums are:
01. “The Colour and the Shape” by Foo Fighters
02. “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
03. “Nothing’s Shocking” by Jane’s Addiction
04. “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?” by Megadeth
05. “Texas Flood” by Stevie Ray Vaughan
06. “The Best of No Doubt (Rock Band Edition)”
As it stands right now, there are three full albums available for download in the game. Judas Priest’s “Screaming For Vengeance”, The Cars’ self-titled debut album “The Cars”, and the Pixies’ “Doolittle”. Along with these albums, there is a 15 track “The Best of The Who” pack available as well as Boston’s self-titled debut album “Boston”, minus the final track “Let Me Take You Home Tonight”.
Following the release of Rock Band 2, Harmonix plans to also release 20 songs free of charge. All downloadable content will also be forwards and backwards compatible between Rock Band 1 and Rock Band 2. They also plan to implement a song importing feature that will allow you to download all songs on the Rock Band 1 disc to your hard drive to be played through Rock Band 2. Their goal for the remainder of the year is to have over 500 songs available for the franchise.
Rock Band 2 releases on September 14 for the Xbox 360 console and on other consoles later in the fall.
