Polish musician Pawel Maciwoda, who has been the bassist for German hard rock veterans Scorpions since 2003, revealed during a brand new interview with the "Dzien Dobry TVN" show on Polish TV (see video below) that the band will enter the studio in the fall to lay down a collection of re-recorded versions of Scorpions classics. The CD is tentatively due early next year.
The current farewell tour by the iconic band - Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), James Kottak (drums) and Pawel Maciwoda (bass) - is in support of their latest album, "Sting In The Tail" (Universal Music Enterprises).
The Scorpions' trek - in celebration of 40-plus years in music - has been a massive success in a soft touring economy, with the group filling many of the arenas they performed at in the United States and Canada.
"Sting In The Tail" sold 18,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. This marks the band's highest chart debut in over 20 years. The CD also landed at No. 6 on the Rock Albums chart.
"Sting In The Tail" was released in North America on March 23, 2010 via Universal Music Enterprises. The CD was recorded at a studio in Hannover, Germany with Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind The Rasmus' "Dead Letters" CD).

Very interesting. I guess they decided to make just one more album (with re-recorded Scorpions classics) before they finally retire. they are only retiring from touring. they said that they will still play at festivals, just no more bug tours.
lolololol bug tours. That put a funny thought in my head. I know it was a type. I just lold for some reason.
I wasn't able to attend the show in my area for their farewell tour, but my bandmates were, and they said they still rock.
Does anyone have the Blue Oyster Cult album called 'Cult Classic?' It is a greatest hits album, but all the songs are re-recorded. Believe it or not, I like every version on that album better than the originals. So it's not a bad idea.
On a side note -- Gosh, look at the numbers in the article. 18,500 copies is enough to get to 23 on the chart, and to 6 on the rock chart? Just an example of how weak CD sales have become.
I wonder which of their classics they will re-record. Rock you Like a Hurricane is obvious, as is No One Like You, but what else? The Zoo? Wind of Change? I hope they record Still Loving You. That's one of my favorite songs.
This is such a superfluous gesture. Styx did it and the results were pretty unsatisfying. Anyone remember Dylan's "Live at Budokan" record when he re-arranged his classic songs and it sucked like a whirlpool in the Bermuda Triangle?
This sounds like some harebrained bullshit their record label came up with. Absolutely pathetic. Why not instead remaster some of the early albums like Fly to the Rainbow or Virgin Killer and re-release them (how about the live in Japan record, Tokyo Tapes) rather than this weak attempt at a cash grab?
I would be happy if they remastered everything from Lonesome Crow to Tokyo tapes... and for God's sake, release the original album art on Virgin Killer & Taken By Force

Most people think child pornography is a serious crime and not for album art.
