Stone Temple Pilots/ex-Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland recently spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about his sophomore solo album, "Happy In Galoshes", which is scheduled for release on November 25, 2008 via the artist's label Softdrive Records and distributed by New West Records/ RED/Sony. "There's no rules to the stuff I do on my own," Weiland sad. "I don't have to worry about radio playing it."
" Happy In Galoshes", produced by Scott Weiland and Doug Grean (Velvet Revolver, Sheryl Crow, Crystal Method), with select tracks recorded by Steve Albini, features a collection of songs that bring a revitalizing sound to Weiland's highly praised and unique musical style. The album also features several guest appearances including Adrian Young, Tony Kanal and Tom Dumont of No Doubt, who, along with Grean and Weiland, penned " Paralysis", which features Young on drums. " She's So Cold" was co-written by Gary Beers from INXS. The album also includes other standout tracks such as the dynamic " Missing Cleveland" and the catchy hooks of " Talk About Love". " If it turns off the Stone Temple Pilots fans, so be it," Weiland said. " There's art and there's commerce and at the age I'm at, I've accomplished the commerce part."
Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

: this guy has always been neutral to me, i like some song he's been involved with, not most of it, but a statement like this i appreciate, if any artist expresses something like and actually apply it (and not just say it), i appreciate their music, even if doesn't fit my style.POSTED: 09/23/2008 - 10:53 am / quote |

1) Aww, Weiland is sad. Sometimes you have to do more than spell check, you have to read what you've written
2) Weiland doesn't have to worry about radio playing his stuff. He also doesn't need to worry about people listening/ buying/ caring about his stuff eitherPOSTED: 09/23/2008 - 11:21 am / quote |

Once you get to where he is, I guess you can afford to piss around. At least he's making some decent music, unlike VR who seem lost in translation.
Bring STP to New Zealand!POSTED: 09/23/2008 - 05:48 pm / quote |

: So what if he has a huge ego? Do you guys live with him and have to put up with him everyday or something like that? Anyway I don't know many rock stars who don't have an excess of self esteem and they're still cool to me so...POSTED: 09/23/2008 - 08:32 pm / quote |

: I wish he wouldn't. Sometimes the best thing an entertainer can do is show some restraint. It's good to acknowledge when you simply don't have what it takes to pull something off and for Scott, that something is a solo album with him being responsible for the vast majority of the material. I realize that he's achieved a level of fame and financial staus that allows for something like this, but why not try being a bit realistic? POSTED: 09/23/2008 - 09:15 pm / quote |

: he is cocky, but i think that would b a result of the "i can do anything" mentality of drug-addicts...and also the fame. but hes a good singer and possibly the best frontman ive ever seen; when i saw him with VR in january, it was freakin incredible.
but that pic is really depressing lolPOSTED: 09/24/2008 - 12:38 am / quote |

just like how all 80's metal singers sound alike. Good for him, I heard some of this stuff, it's pretty good. I think it's better than 12 bar blues; however, a new STP album would be better.POSTED: 09/24/2008 - 10:28 am / quote |
Powerchild
: Drugs and antics aside, Scott Weiland is a very talented person. The reason is just like he said- he incorporates many styles into his own sound. STP really took advantage of that i felt- they had hits that were rock songs, like vasoline, and down, etc, and then they had these awesome almost country like things that were great too. I think that VR never really took advantage of that part of Scott.
If you listen to a lot of Scott's lyrics, and you know a little bit about his history and how he came to be the singer for STP, you might understand why he's so messed up. Yeah, drugs are part of it, but a lot of it has to do with stuff that he did when he was living on the street after his wife and kid kicked him out and before he joined STP. Some of that sentiment tripped over into some VR songs, but it is something that has spanned his music over the years, in the same way that Chris Cornell speaks of his divorce from his crazy bitch ex wife and the deaths of all of his friends. Though they are mentally and psychologically debilitating, these guys are able to take them and craft them into something special and release them. POSTED: 09/24/2008 - 10:29 am / quote |
