Sex Pistols: Concert DVD In October

Punk veterans the Sex Pistols will release their live DVD "There'll Always Be An England" on October 14 in the United States.

The Rhino Records release features the original lineup of Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock performing at November 2007 reunion shows at London's Brixton Academy.

"This film is about the unique electricity between the Sex Pistols and their audience," director Julien Temple said in a statement. "The amazing cross section of the crowd at a Pistols gig is like no other, and the Brixton shows last year brought the band to a whole new generation as well as to those that have been there from the very beginning."

In addition to the concert, the DVD package includes more than an hour-and-a-half of bonus footage, such as a feature, "The Knowledge," showing each band member revisiting his old London hunting grounds.

Also on October 14, Rhino will release the band's landmark 1977 debut, "Never Mind The Bollocks ... Here's The Sex Pistols," on 180-gram vinyl.

"Buy one get one for the same price as one," the ever-enigmatic Lydon said on his Web site.

How to which interpretation? It could be Nationalist in a sense that England will always have its identity and will always be great. It could be racist because thats just how some people interpret nationalism these days. That slew with Kele from Bloc Party can't have done Johnny any favours. Or it could be ironic, since Johnny is a strong believer that England has lost its identity because of immigration, and therefore, isn't really England.

Bands that break up and get back together suck every single time. Look at all the 80's losers at Rocklahoma, Motley Crue is doing festivals, Led Zeppelin isn't even drunk or high anymore, the Sex Pistols are trying to make money, I mean, what's the whole point?

I saw this gig on TV a while back, during a Sex Pistols special on one of the local music channels. It was awesome, and my mum was pissed off that I was watching it, then she started ranting about how much of a bad influence Johnny Rotten, the Pistols and the whole punk movement were. So I'll definitely be buying it.
