Slash's New Single To Feature Ozzy Osbourne

Mistress Carrie of the Worcester/Boston, Massachusetts radio station WAAF has posted the following message on her official blog:

"One of the benefits of being the Music Director of WAAF is hearing new music Way before anyone else!

"Today I got a chance to hear some of the new Slash [Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N' Roses] album that will be released in March of 2010. We should have the new single (which is going to feature Ozzy [Osbourne] on lead vocals) in January!

"This song was Awesome! And the lyrics are going to piss off Axl and Black Sabbath!

"I heard Chris Cornell, Kid Rock, M. Shadows, and even Fergie lending their voices to Slash. They were all great! Also featured on the lineup… Lemmy, Iggy, Alice Cooper, Flea, Duff, Myles Kennedy and, you guessed, Dave Grohl!

"According to my 'source,' Slash wrote the 'blueprint' for the songs with someone specific in mind. Then he asked that person to get involved and help write and record the track!

"Every song has a bit of Slash and the other musicians in it… Very Cool!

"This album is going to be Huge!"

Slash has just released a two-track CD single in Japan containing the song "Sahara" (featuring singer Koshi Inaba of the Japanese hard rock duo B'Z) and a version of the GN'R classic "Paradise City" (featuring Cypress Hill and Fergie [a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson] of the Black Eyed Peas).

Slash recently told MusicRadar.com that he got almost every special guest he wanted to appear on his upcoming solo album, except for one: White Stripes singer/guitarist and Dead Weather drummer Jack White. Slash revealed, "I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn't want to sing. He said I'll play drums, I'll play guitar, but I don't wanna sing. He was one guy that I wanted to work with. Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get."

"Slash" will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with a UK media partner — the special-interest media group Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution the standard album release will be preceded by a "fan pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly collectable special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. This will be the first format of the album available anywhere in the world.

Slash tracked most of the CD with former Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese and ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney.

on top of which i cant help but feel disappointed that he decided to make what sounds like a reasonably poppy album, if the two tracks from the above article are anything to go on

I was wondering something about the widely used "sell out " term ..... but how exactly has Slash changed his overall sound and tone, that its completely different so he could sell to as many people as possible.

Last I checked most musicians aspire to play for as many people as possible using whatever concept they have as the backbone for their music

It's also baffling that you point out what all budding musician, hell anyone that picks up an instrument and has a desire to master it does ..... which is play with other musicians .... but I'm guessing once you become a pro you should lock yourself in a closest while whispering "this is my preciousssss"

Slash has great guests on the album which is awesome. Having jack white on it would have topped it off as one of the best rock albums in the 2000's

i had the mis/fortune of watching a VR gig once, there were no less than 8 Gnr Covers, 1 Pink Floyd cover, and only 4 VR songs, which is suspect given the circumstances.

neither am i saying he shouldnt play with other musicians, just some of them, namely Dave Grohl, seem a bit predictable, although i do admit i may have been overly critical/anti-fanboy with it all but i do have my reservations on slash.

I hope it's a heavier album. Slash always talks about how he wants to write heavier music but then never really does. He needs to just do it already. When he was a heroin addict he wrote some of the darkest material ever. He was even supposed to join Megadeth at one point. Him and Dave Mustaine wrote some of the darkest, heroin fueled music ever but never did anything with their ideas. I wish Dave Mustaine was on this album. Maybe he is. I think Michael Jackson might actually be on it too (rumor). MJ owed Slash and he was supposed to work with Slash but who knows if it actually materialized. Either way this album is probably going to be pretty sick. I'm excited.

this was at a gig i saw a few years ago on their first UK tour, i mean yeah they had JUST done their new album so maybe covering classics was an easier route, but still
