Smashing Pumpkins: Release Live DVD

To help celebrate the band’s 20th anniversary, The Smashing Pumpkins will release their very first live concert DVD on November 11.

The DVD, titled “If All Goes Wrong”, will be packaged in a dual-disc format.

Disc 1 will feature a 105 minute documentary about a series of shows the band performed at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco during the summer of 2007. It will also include a featurette about the band’s fans and an interview with Pete Townshend of The Who. The documentary was directed by Jack Gulick and Daniel E. Catullo III.

Disc 2 will feature select songs from the band’s performances. These include “The Rose March”, “Superchrist”, and “Zeitgeist”. The concert performances will be played in 5.1 Surround Sound.

In other news, the band is scheduled to release their new single “G.L.O.W.” via download for Guitar Hero: World Tour when that releases on October 26.

Report by David Lowe-Bianco.

I really like them, but they're not exactly the best live band around in my opinion.

They're probably one of the best bands live I've ever seen.

If it was a full concert, and then a documentary, maybe I would buy it.

Why can't they release their final show on DVD? I know they recorded it. I heard it was epic over 3 hours long.

to be fair, My Bloody Valentine are shoegazer, and allegedly one of the best live bands ever. not that i've ever gotten to see them though

the smashing pumpkins arent that great of a live bands cause its really hard to produce some of there songs live from the fact that they layer the tracks like crazy whilst in the studio

They USED to be mediocre in concert but have gotten dramatically better since reforming. The band as it is now gels really well.

Also, the final show was four full sets and two encores I believe with songs spanning their entire career and they even had Billy Corgan Sr. come on stage and play with them for a couple songs. I've heard multiple times the entire thing was recorded professionally.

Sweet. To everyone who says that they aren't that good a live band; they can't get the same sound live that they do in studio cause they layer and overdub the guitars so much. The only thing that annoyed me when I saw them live in March is that Corgan's stage persona is pretty annoying.

This bands too much of a money hungry enterprise now. They'll use clips of that show for all kinds of different things they can sell. The best concert dvd ever is 311's 311 day in New Orleans concert. They played over 5 hours and put the whole thing on DVD for like 20 bucks. Thats a real band.

The Smashing Pumpkins will release their very first live concert DVD on November 11.

The Pumpkins already released a live VHS (which was re-released on DVD down the line) in 1994 called Earphoria. Just sayin'... Also for the record, I saw the Pumpkins live in February and while the sound was a bit muddy at one stage, I thought the performance itself was excellent.
