I can't see these being good at all. What type of bands are these? Like emo right? I'm not sure. The Pumpkins already have a Industrial tribute.

See for yourself. http://www.dailytexanonline.com/media/paper410/news/2005/06/30/Entertainment/ExPumpkin.Corgan.Releases.Solo.Debut-960154.shtml

guys guys guys, anyone who knows anything about the pumpkins knows that you'll never see the original line up ever again. i dont think any amount of money will be enough to put them all in one room. just enjoy them for what they were, the greatest alternative rock band of all time

At least Billy and James are still in the scene, Billy still making records and James will help Team Sleep (Chino of the Deftones side project) on their next album, he will produce or something.

On another note, i'm interested to hear this, won't be as good as the originals(duh, that's a given) but should be interesting...

The Smashing Pumpkins put out arguably the most famous double album of the 90's. They also were able to do different song styles very well, and have one of the most loyal fanbases that ever have existed.

elcapitan1800 :
This is kinda lame. Im not a tribute fan at all, but I know for a fact that the band Killradio was asked to cover "Bodies" for this album, which they did and did a very good job. Killradio is better than all of those bands, and yet they arent on the cd. Dumb....

*sigh* tisk tisk ..
who on earth would u do 'we only come out at night' that sounds terrible ! and this is coming from a huge pumpkins fan . cant beat the originals but some of those will be fairly interesting to see how they turn out

i'm glad they picked awesome songs, but most of these bands i havent heard of, and poison the well is terrible and already butchered Today, why are they being allowed to butcher Soma

sirpsycho85 :
i've listened to the one they link you to...cherub rock is not a bad cover. the only thing that stuck out as bad is the random palm muting out of nowhere in the second verse. however, it really adds nothing to the song.

sirpsycho85 :
the whole cover i mean, adds nothing to the song.

Vaux is not emo...from what I've heard anyways
I've been meaning to buy a Smashing Pumpkins CD, but hell, I'm sure it won't be this one. I know it's not BY the Smashing Pumpkins but just in general.

POSTED: 11/04/2005 - 07:18 pm / quote |
DorkusMalorkus :
Is it a coincidence that my David Letterman blew up a pumpkin when I started listening to the itunes stuff?

I didn't like the songs...Although I thought 'eye' was good.

Smashing Pumpkins rock. I've got the heart from Mellon Collie tattooed on my arm, Billy better do right and reunite them so I can see them one last time

POSTED: 11/04/2005 - 08:45 pm / quote |
JimiOwnsYou21 :
I doubt they're gonna reunite... James might come back and agree to it, but there is no way in hell that D'arcy is gonna come back... i mean she left during their farewell tour, that's jus scheisty...

i adgree

i just listened to cherub rock link
this makes my day so sad...

and also James left during their farewell tour as well
and i think billy said he will still do "smashing pumpkins" without James Iha and D'arcy but that would be so strange...

tribute albums usually always suck. Billys style is great and unique and whoever covers it, no matter how good the bans are, they'll just **** it up.

Im sure they could have gotten better bands to cover their stuff, like as someone suggested Muse or The Mars volta (it would be interesting)or Coheed and Cambria Or even MCR. The Pumpkins were the greatest alternative rock band of the 90's and it would be interesting to see how today's more progressive or alternative rock bands could interpret there songs. I've listened to Churub Rock and it sounds like they are just trying to out and out copy the pumpkin's version. You cant out Billy Corgan, Billy Corgan!
POSTED: 11/06/2005 - 04:13 pm / quote |

Or leave emo bands out of it. Since when are the Pumpkins emo?
