Soil Begin Writing Next Album

Soil guitarist Shaun Glass has issued the following update:

"Well, we're pretty much done touring after 13 months for [the latest SOIL album] 'True Self'. We finally all agreed we have done all we can on the touring front for this album (STAIND world tour, main stage at Download 2006, [dates with] GODSMACK, SEVENDUST, True Rock European tour, U.S. True Rock tour and wrapping up with HELLYEAH etc. etc.). We have now begun writing for the new SOIL album and it feels fucking great, so all you junkies will have to wait a bit to see us live. Like you aint seen enough of us already the last two years, HAHA! But yes, we're glad to be creating music again, and all I can say, judging from the music we have already, this shit is gonna Rock!!!"

Soil's latest CD, "True Self", was released in May 2006 via DRT Entertainment. The follow-up to 2004's "Redefine" was recorded and mixed at Bomb Shelter studios in Los Angeles, California with producer Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Taproot). The CD is the group's first to feature singer A.J. Cavalier, who previously fronted the California-based Diesel Machine (also featuring ex-Damageplan frontman Patrick Lachman on guitar). The band's original vocalist, Ryan McCombs, has since joined the Texas act Drowning Pool.

Meh, don't really like True Self that much. They lost a lot of the classiness (if that's the right word) that McCombs brought to the group. Now they sound like pretty generic hard rock. It's wierd because Scars and Redefine were innovative on all fronts not just vocals. Whatever. I'll always like their old stuff.

i cdont like their stuff without McCombs. Im waiting for the new drowning pool though. I watched some new songs on youtube by them, and it sounded very soil-ish.

They were way better with McCombs, but I'll still be interested in hearing how this one turns out.

Cool. while I've got some good memories rocking out with mates to Halo. personally I think that McCombs is a A-hole. I know that drowning pool haven't had a stable front man since Dave's passing, but the way he left soil saying "I'm quiting music to have a brake and spend time with my family". to find him bashing the rest of the band to the press and fronting drowning pool less than a month from "quiting music"

Anyways looking forward to the new album. funnily enough I've just been listening to true self and if that's anything to go by for what the bands got in store for there next record 3 words CAN'T F**KING WAIT! the solo on one last song is just amazing.

true self was good but scars and redefine were definately better. true self was good in its own way, it was a new sound, A.J cavalier's sound, not Ryan's.
but it was still good and im looking forward to the new album
