Steriogram burst onto the UK rock scene recently with their Top 20 hit "Walkie Talkie Man" and three frantic gigs in the capital that instantly won them an eager fanbase. With "Walkie Talkie Man" becoming the most requested track at Radio 1 in November and spending two weeks at Number One on the student radio chart, there’s no doubt that this is a band firmly connecting with a brand new audience - a fact cemented by Steriogram’s presence at number 8 in Kerrang’s Best New Bands poll, voted for by their readers, after just two months in the public eye.
"
Walkie Talkie Man" spent five weeks in the
iTunes Top 10, peaking at number 3, and becoming one of the top ten downloads of the year for them. It also reached number 8 in the official download Top 10. The bands’ performances on the likes of CD:UK, Top Of The Pops Saturday and Popworld also provoked huge responses from those audiences. As a result
Steriogram’s album "
Schmack!" has been finding a welcome home with thousands of rock fans since its release in mid-November.
'Walkie Talkie Man's success was partly due to its eye-popping video which was nominated for four MTV Awards and has also just been nominated for a Grammy! "Go" follows in this tradition with an accompanying video that’s just as entertaining - made as it is by the special effects team from "Lord Of The Rings", which was filmed in the bands’ native New Zealand.
"Go" also showcases a different side to the band, moving away from the pop-punk of "Walkie Talkie Man" into territory that’s inspired as much by Nirvana and QOTSA as it is by Red Hot Chili Peppers or Less Than Jake.
