Success Keeps Killswitch Engage Out Of Studio |
| artist: killswitch engage |

category: upcoming releases |

|
The price of success for Killswitch Engage is putting the future on hold - for a bit, writes Billboard.com.
"We are considering starting an album at the end of next year at this point," bassist Mike D'Antonio tells Billboard. "We're not gonna stop touring on this record ('As Daylight Dies') until at least the end of April, and I know we're probably going to do a run of all the festivals in Europe in June and July. After that, I believe then we're gonna start talking about writing a new record."
The Massachusetts headbangers have reason to wait, of course. " As Daylight Dies" has sold more than 300,000 copies and is still moving, thanks to the group's cover of Dio's "Holy Diver" that graces the special expanded edition of the album and is currently No. 16 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
On top of that, Killswitch's 2004 release "The End of Heartache" was recently certified gold. "We've always been one of those bands that's just slow and steady selling, not one of those pop artists that sell a million off the bat," D'Antonio notes. "We just chug along, the little band that could. Our accountant came to us and was like, 'You guys really need to think about getting houses or you're gonna get screwed on taxes pretty bad.' I guess that shows the band's working out."
Currently on tour with Lamb Of God, Killswitch will be working hard in the new year. The group is planning a North American headlining jaunt in early 2008 and will be part of the five-date Soundwave Festival tour in Australia during February and March. Some Japanese dates are expected to follow.

wait. how? i'm seriously asking. | basically it means that they're making so much money that unless they spend it on something big and justifiable (like a house) they ought to be paying uncle sam a shitload of money, therefore, their year-end expected taxes are gonna be really high... or at least, that's what I think that means with my limited knowledge of the fiscal systemPOSTED: 11/28/2007 - 12:09 pm / quote |

You hit the nail on the head my friend. Without owning land or property of some sort that is largely taxable, the government must (in order to maintain their 'state of equality in taxing') tax something since they are not using the money to keep up part of the government land, plus they aren't taking out property and housing taxes. Thus, They must make a larger tax on the income.
Technically, homeless people would also have to do this, assuming they made enough money legitimately to file taxes.
Hope that helps.

I hope their headlining trek will be at slightly smaller venues than the log co-headlining one. I personally like when bands play smaller venues, it gets me into the show more into the show.POSTED: 11/28/2007 - 01:53 pm / quote |

Just downloaded the song from iTunes, it's sooo sick. I think it's the first KSE song I've heard w/a guitar solo & it's awesome. I personally like Shadows Fall slighty better b/c of the singer & the guitars, but KSE's new album is growing on me...

i disagree. I think its one of the best covers ever. I don't like KSE a whole lot, they're good don't get me wrong, but the Holy Diver cover is fuggin fantastic.
the point of a cover anyway is to keep the original idea/feeling of the song but make it your own in a way and they did that very well. plus the solo is sick
