The long-awaited, highly anticipated Rock Band video game based around the music of The Beatles has finally been given a release date. The Beatles: Rock Band will be in stores on September 9, 2009.
The game will be released simultaneously in all territories on September 9 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii video game systems. Players will be able to purchase a copy of the game for $59.99 as well as a standalone Beatles-themed guitar-controller for $99.99. Additionally gamers will be able to purchase a limited edition bundle version that includes the game as well as drum, guitar, and microphone peripherals modeled after ones used by the band for just $249.99. Pricing for other countries will be announced at a later date.
Fan can check out the game’s official
website and sign-up to be notified of when pre-orders begin for the game. The game’s creators promise that exclusive content will be made available for those who pre-order the game through major retailers.
There is no word yet on what the setlist might look like or if digital versions of the Fab Four will appear in the game.
Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopoulos insists that this game will be a brand-new Rock Band game built from the ground up, rather than just an expansion like last year’s AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack, reports Gamespot.com.
With The Beatles: Rock Band scheduled to come out this September, the release of a potential Rock Band 3 will be pushed back until at least next year, reports Gamespot.com. Yearly releases from the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises have become a staple of the gaming community much like yearly releases of sports video games. However, Harmonix promises to continue offering weekly downloadable songs to existing Rock Band titles.
