The Killers Make Charity Video

The Killers are showing their support to raise awareness of child trafficking, Angryape.com reports.

The Las Vegas band have partnered with MTV for the project, which has seen a video being created for their song "Goodnight, Travel Well".

The Killers say in a statement: "We are deeply shocked and appalled that women and children are forced into such exploitative situations."

"We hope that through this powerful video that millions of people across the world learn about this tragic form of modern-day slavery."

The Killers will record their next album while on tour, in a mobile recording studio they'll be taking on the road with them.

The band's next LP is a collection of cover versions, expected to be released around Christmas time, or in early 2010.

As for what songs we can expect to hear being covered, frontman Brandon Flowers said to Nme magazine: "It's still in the dream stages. It's something that we've always talked about doing and we're still talking about it."

"It's difficult for us each to pick songs that represent us as individuals. I mean, I have a lot of personalities myself! I've gone through everything from Neil Diamond to The Cars."

nothing wrong wih raising awareness. hopefully the cover cd is good. i like when band do them becuase it's like saying "we're normal and we have favorite bands as well and here are some of our favorite songs"

Wow, I dunno about this album idea...I don't feel like they were losing any song-writing steam, but whatever. Hopefully there will be a couple originals.

+1 to all this. Cover albums are great, because we can see where their influences came from.

Seen the video yesterday, it's really good. As it got into it I instantly knew what it was about. I'm not a huge fan of theirs, but it's good they're raising awareness about child trafficking etc.

well hopefully they'll do like NIN and release that one and a new Killers album in one year, (FYI NIN released 3 records this last year)

I'm not really a Killers fan, but they deserve respect for raising some awareness and doing charity work. Regardless of my feelings toward their music, it's always good to see them trying to help.

I saw the video. It was a pretty good video.
It's a pretty awesome song though, by a band filled with brilliant musicians. I'm personally very excited about this new album. From what I've heard, each member of the band gets to choose three songs to cover. Should be interesting.

^It certainly didn't fit the video, that's for sure. Perhaps 'The World We Live In' would be more appropriate.

But Goodnight Travel Well is brilliant because of it's lyrics. It's written to/for/about Flower's mum, who's dying of cancer.

I'm not sure what you meant with the Sawdust thing, but I agree that their new album wasn't good, especially after the amazing Sam's Town and Sawdust. I honestly listen to songs off of Sawdust more than off of Day and Age... I hope they release something better otherwise I will have lost interest of them.

On that note, Goodnight Travel Well is probably one of the best songs off of Day and Age
