The Smashing Pumpkins are set to release a box set of their 1991 debut album Gish this year, according to Contact Music.
An exact release date or details of what the box set will contain is yet to be disclosed by the band, with a posting on their website reading: "What is to be included on here, no one knows for sure."
However, the band have confirmed that its release will come at the same time as a Gish tour planned for later in 2008.
The band announced last month that they will release a commemorative DVD which will document some of their live shows in the US.
Frontman Billy Corgan told Artisannews: "We're working on a DVD that's sort of a documentary of our residency [at legendary San Francisco venue] Fillmore shows."
Corgan also said that next year would see the release of a brand new Smashing Pumpkins album, reports Gigwise.

It's unlikely that the Gish CD will be included. On the official site they wrote "Pre-Gish/Gish Boxset". When they mean boxset, they're talking about material that from that era be it studio outtakes, live versions, stuff before Gish was recorded etc...POSTED: 06/24/2008 - 10:56 am / quote |

: Perfect. I saw them in February and my only disappointment was that they only played one song off of Gish. Glad to see they're fixing that.POSTED: 06/24/2008 - 12:27 pm / quote |

They didn't play anything from Gish at the Utah show, the closest thing was Drown, which I didn't complain much about.

: Gish is my favorite f*cking album. It was so musically creative! The guitar work is just incredible. I refused to see them last tour because they didn't play old stuff except for hits, if they plan on playing more stuff from Gish and Siamese Dream, I will be there for sure.POSTED: 06/24/2008 - 06:43 pm / quote |

Yea, i hear where you're coming from. I think the guitars are actually pretty good, but the drums are really thin, and it took me a solid month of listening to get used to his vocals being so freaking loud. Definately nailed them live though. I mean United States opening the show, that wasn't shitty...POSTED: 06/25/2008 - 11:38 am / quote |

Not necessarily, considering that all the songs from TAFH were recorded pre-Mellon Collie. Even though they were just as good, and some of them better than songs from Mellon Collie.POSTED: 07/07/2008 - 05:51 pm / quote |

: Hmm..well maybe not BETTER than some songs from Mellon Collie but still pretty damn close, especially Set The Ray to Jerry & Pennies.. & Mouths Of Babes.POSTED: 07/07/2008 - 05:52 pm / quote |
