The Vines are set to release their new album "Future Primitive" on June 6.

Frontman Craig Nicholls has said that the album, which was recorded with Wolf & Cub producer Chris Colonna in early 2010, was influenced by music from the 1960s.

He told Australian radio station Triple J: "There are a few three and a half minute songs but more of them are around two minutes. I just like the early singles in the '60s, how they seemed to be very short."

He added: "It's kind of changed nowadays but we’re trying to bring that back, I guess."

"Future Primitive" will be the band's fifth album, and will be the follow-up to 2008's "Melodia".

Ahhh the Vines.. They had such good tunes but they were absolutely horrendous live; the set was ridiculously short and Craig got angry at his drummer, started throwing shit at him then left the stage and had to be begged back on. Hopefully Craig is more with it now as they definitely were a cool band.
