Canadian rockers Three Days Grace are planning to document their live show before wrapping up touring in support of 2006's platinum "One-X" in early April.
Guitarist Barry Stock tells Billboard.com that a full film crew will come out on the road some time in March to capture footage of the quartet at work. "We record our show every night onto ProTools, so they'll come out and film this and I'm pretty sure we're gonna put together a DVD with that stuff," says Stock. "We may do some acoustic stuff as well. People ask us all the time about doing acoustic stuff; they love when we go into radio stations and break it down."
Stock says Three Days Grace, which is currently on the third leg of a tour with Breaking Benjamin and Seether, is starting to hone in more on its third album, which the group plans to record later this year.
He guesses there are about a half-dozen songs ready as well as "tons of other stuff that has to be completed. We've got a little recording rig set up on the bus, so we're always throwing down ideas and songs and stuff. We're actually in better shape than we were the last time, when we came off (the road) to do 'One-X' -- a little more ahead of the game, actually. Hopefully that means we'll get back out a lot quicker."
The new material runs a gamut, according to Stock, though he says that an overall sound "is probably hard to pinpoint right now. It's gonna be a Three Days Grace record for sure, but we're trying to do stuff outside of the box. We have some stuff that's heavier and a little more intricate; at the same time, on the complete other end, we have some ballads that take us a lot further in that route. So we're trying to open up a little more."
As for production, Stock says the group is leaning towards Howard Benson, who handled "One-X." "We had a great time working with him and his team last time," the guitarist notes. "He's great with vocals and stuff and really allowed us freedom musically. We had a good amount of control, and we really like that. We haven't said for sure, but we may very well go that route again."
Thanks for the info to Billboard.com.

: lol well, I like BB, but I can't really judge cause i haven't seen them live.
It's been about two years since I saw 3DG's show, but I thoroughly enjoyed it....They were the first band I'd ever seen live, so I'll always have a soft spot for them lol.
Still, they're a pretty damn good band. POSTED: 02/26/2008 - 02:26 pm / quote |

i prefer chevelle over both of them tough as they all have a pretty similar sound, but quite frankly three days grace suck live.POSTED: 02/26/2008 - 03:11 pm / quote |

i know.. i wasnt being sarcastic. i like how this happens cause BB is one of my faves. i just think it's funny cause what if TDG comes here to read comments on an article about themselves only to find most of them saying that their opener puts on a better show xDPOSTED: 02/26/2008 - 03:33 pm / quote |

: I remember seeing these guys in concert with Breaking Benjamin, Seether, and Skillet last October...that was by far one of the best shows I've seen in a while. Although, I thought it was unfortunate that Skillet wasn't publically announced along with the other groups. Especially because they're veterans when compared to the rest.POSTED: 02/26/2008 - 03:53 pm / quote |

: I saw their show yesterday with BB and Seether and Hurt and I realized nobody that played that night are actually great musicians, like I know I'm a better guitarist then everyone that played, or at least I try to play moderatly difficult things.
and then I wonder why my band wont get signed, cause were not simple or pop enough =/ I love music but hate this business POSTED: 02/26/2008 - 07:50 pm / quote |

just because you think you're shreddy mcfuntits doesnt mean you can write good music. just because they dont play "moderately difficult" things doesnt mean they are simple and pop and it doesnt mean they cant shred either. you have the wrong idea of what music is all about.POSTED: 02/26/2008 - 08:04 pm / quote |

ummmm lets see....three days grace plays below average music, almost all of their singles consists of the same exact chorus structure (talking about guitar riff). Listen for the DUH DUH in each song, they are pretty much stuck in a downward spiral of DUH DUHs hahaha i mean maybe on the next record they'll actually move onto a DUH DUH DUH instead. Lol pwned. Your right, just cos they don't shred it out dosn't mean they can't. Its because they can write music and lyrics that appeal to people other than themselves. When you become as good or better at writing songs then you may start complaining young nightembers.
On another note, should they be releasing a live dvd? I don't know if they have enough hardcore fan base for this to actually be a profitable and viable project. Bring out a few more albums then maybe do this aye 3dg?POSTED: 02/27/2008 - 12:31 am / quote |

: I've seen BB live 3 times, their dvd doesnt capture them cause as noted already ben was sick when they did it. I've also seen TDG live with hinder and staind, they opened but sounded great just not too much of a stage presence they were there and performed, BB interacts with the crowd almost on a LP level.POSTED: 02/27/2008 - 10:14 am / quote |

...you just suck at writing music. Look at Dream Theater, they play the opposite of 'simple' music, and only 1 of their songs has ever been a hit single, yet they are still making music to this day.POSTED: 02/27/2008 - 10:17 am / quote |
