Many actors have tried making the transition from film to music and Twilight star Robert Pattinson is just one of the latest celebrities who intends to do so. The actor has confirmed he wants to release an album in 2011.

The 23-year-old who has starred in both the Twilight and Harry Potter series, told The Sun he already writing material for the record.

"I want to do one at the end of the year," said Pattinson. "All my friends are recording albums and I'm very annoyed about it."

Since Pattinson recently revealed he had interest in becoming a musician, it's been said several major record labels are in a bidding war to sign the actor. Unlike most celebrities in the film industry, Pattinson has had experience when it comes to music as he contributed two songs for the score of the original Twilight movie.

"I don't know how people can act and also sing," he said. "I'll find some time to do it."

Who knows, maybe he'll be alright. Not a fan of Twilight, but he's a decent enough actor. Haven't cared enough to listen to his material.

Tom Felton wasn't that bad either, so who knows.

This sucks. Quality musicians and bands aren't discovered any more bc major labels just go after whatever is hot at the moment.. it doesn't matter if that hot commodity has ever made music before or has any talent at all. No wonder the music industry is dying.

So record labels are bidding to sign him, even though he hasn't actually done anything musical before?!

I think this story shows everything that is wrong with the music industry today...

Err...yes I did read the whole article. Where does it say that he's released/demo'd any music? It says that he's writing stuff and decided that he wants to be a musician, nothing else and yet labels are bidding over him.

It says it here

Now GTFO.
I'd be interested in seeing how good this is. The guy that played Malfoy in the Harry Potter films has done music and it's actually pretty good.

i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that pattinson was a musician before he was an actor (i think he sings much better than he acts). i think he started really young taking piano lessons and such. but, if you haven't heard rob pattinson's music you can go to youtube and search "let me sign" and "never think." they were both on the original twilight soundtrack and they're actually quiet good. he's a hell of a singer, and his voice is not quiet what you'd expect. he also plays guitars on both of the tracks i think.

i'm actually looking forward to his album.

Smart move on his part. He realizes that sooner rather than later his fifteen minutes are going to be up. He's just enjoying the blank check that fame has given him. Let him. Who cares if it's some vanity project, when the Twilight movies are done it's not like he'll have a career anyway.

As if he needs another reason for idiot high school girls to wear T-shirts with his face on it. Is he not getting enough income from Hot Topic and really bad movies or something?

I'm reasonably certain this will be better than Twilight at any rate. Probably not gonna be my cup of tea, but he actually writes and plays an instrument, and his voice isn't that bad. Good for him.

LOL at all the people saying his fame is up. He's a good actor and when he's done with Twilight, many directors will be throwing themselves at him because of his fame.

He's a great singer, has made music before, and plays guitar. This is proof that a lot of UG seems to be jealous of anybody popular with a musical career.

OH NO!!!! He's a popular actor and his music will probably be enjoyed by people without neckbeards! Maybe even....girls. Good for him.

And anybody who says the music industry is dying is an idiot. It's stronger than ever. Just because your favorite bands aren't on the radio as much anymore doesn't mean all music now is bad. Get over it.

what a joke man. People work their whole lives to just get into the public eye. With the flick of his dick, he can become the #1 on the muchbullshit billboard for a year. This is right, ask a lot of musicians and its about hard work and in quite a few cases, luck.
Apart from that i don't think he's going to lose sleep at night because some guy that refuses to give his music a chance simply because he's been in a successful movie series and is more popular with the ladies than he is says a few bad words about him.

look dude
a girl talk to u
first: he is the worst actor ever!!
the only reason cuz he have fame is cuz my friends are in love with edward cullen, and i thank all the days i get over that guy

second: we are not jealous, is just isnt fair that some great band doesnt have their oportunty cuz "the popular kid want to sing"
All my friends are recording albums and I'm very annoyed about it."
is that a good reason to start singing?
no isnt
when you like music u give a s*** is the other person is doing well, you do it cuz you love it, even if no one does, you love it.

third:
some girl are smart enought to know he isnt a prince, and yeah, maybe he do sing good, but you really thinks girl like him cuz he sing good? NO
no, we dont do it. and yeah maybe some guy and me like his music. but thats not the reason cuz he have luck with girls

four:
ok, music industry is not dying, and yeah they dont play our music thats and yes, they are good song, but if you compare in the last time, music industry now is just a thing to sell, today isnt about music, today is about everything, except music.

Wrong. He's not a bad actor. That's not an opinion, that's a fact.

second: we are not jealous, is just isnt fair that some great band doesnt have their oportunty cuz "the popular kid want to sing"

Your logic is wrong. You say he doesn't have to work to get his music noticed but you know why he's famous in the first place? Because he worked his ass off to become an actor. Obviously if he's a popular actor, his music will probably sell well, that's not his fault.

1. He's a good actor. That's a fact. He's popular in the first palce because he worked his ass off to become an actor so don't complain that he's getting any freebies.

2. The music industy has always been about money. Don't kid yourself and say it wasn't because it makes you look like an idiot.

He was great in Harry Potter, Twilight was just shocking all round. That said, it has some terrific actors in it (like Elisabeth Reaser) so it just goes to show how bad direction and an unoriginal story can affect an outcome.

First:
if it is very difficult to talk in English with an accent and say .... I am ... a vampire .... and i know he is a bad actor because i take acting classes and many things he does are wrong accordin acting teachers , plus I'm not the only how think so, but i remember he was nominated for worst actor, ok, he has work hard to get far. but that does not mean it is good.

Second:
the music industry has always been about money but before they care about talent, even if today there is good music , but now imports more the image or fame, rather than the true talent, if you do not believe, please search one of the bands here on UG, is multi-talented band that could not take their chance because the discographies give more importance to the image, rather than the real talent, I mean it was better before

third:
if I write bad,i apologize for not speaking English but I am not ashamed of it

Okay, fools, time to clear this up.

It's fairly obvious that most of you have not heard him sing. He has a crazy, deep, bluesy, soul-filled voice. I'm not sure if he plays guitar or not, but goddamn, I was ****ing SHOCKED when I heard this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H47oQH1TW4

Now, I'm not saying he's the best, but he definitely has potential. Just needs to work on his anunciation and some other things, probably nothing a vocal coach can't help him get over.

If he releases an album wherein he showcases his full talent, I will definitely listen to it, and be proud of it. He's done more than just Twilight (Remember Me, for instance...my god...), and if he's a good singer, **** it, why not?

I've actually heard the song that he did for the movie. He has a damn good blues voice. He can ****ing sing.

Anyway, maybe you should listen to him before you judge next time, because this guy HAS talent, and HAS made music before.

While I agree that companies bidding for him prior to him even having songs made is ridiculous, I don't think you can compare him to some small time local club players. Life's unfair like that, but this isn't one of those situations where people should be irked over it.

Okay, but the reason he is wanted by many labels is because he's famous in the first place. He earned this by working hard to become an actor. Obviously since he's already famous, labels will want him. It would be like if Slash wanted to act in a movie. If he was good, directors would jump all over him because he's famous.
