Voivod To Work On Next Album This Winter

According to Blabbermouth.net, Voivod drummer Michel "Away" Langevin has issued the following update on the band's current activities:

"A video for 'The Getaway' has just been completed and submitted to all national and regional cable outlets such as MTV2, Fuse, etc. The footage was pulled from the 2003 American tours and the 2006 recording sessions of 'Katorz'. Currently we are working on a video for 'Polaroids' with Banger Productions ('Metal: A Headbangers Journey') and then we will follow that up with a video for 'The X-Stream'.

"I am still hard at work on the re-issues (due out on The End Records next year). We will start with the Sanctuary ones ('Rrroooaaarrr', 'Dimension Hatross' and 'Killing Technology'). Each album will be remastered and will come with a bonus 'Iron Gang' DVD. The pre-production for the follow-up to 'Katorz' will start this winter. Also, we are still trying to coordinate a tribute show for 2007.

The band released the critically-acclaimed "Katorz" this summer on The End Records. The album was recently released as a limited edition vinyl pressing available exclusively through The End Records' mail-order. The beautiful gatefold 180gm vinyl comes in color format and also includes special artwork and packaging designed by Langevin. The album was done with full cooperation from the band. The release is limited to 1,000 copies: 400 clear vinyl, 400 red vinyl and 200 black vinyl.

Yea Newsted joined up with em after he left Metallica but Voivod s been around a long time,not sure if Newsted is still with them but he is always wearing a voivod t shirt,They are not great but they arent awful

Newsted is currently injured and will have to recuperate for months from an amp falling on him or something like that. That's why he's not with the Rockstar Supernova band at the moment. Anyway, I'm not sure if it'll be the same without Piggy but I'll probably give it a listen.

Piggy was a god. If you're into stuff like Unearth, Norma Jean and Black Dahlia Murder listen to the Nothingface and Negatron albums, they're kind of like slowed down versions of these bands - wierd inverted, dissonant chords, the high pitched octave chord breakdowns etc.
You can hear how bands like Dillinger would not have existed without this man and his music.
