Yngwie Returns With New Album

Yngwie Malmsteen is to release a brand new album entitled Relentless on 22 November.

The Swedish shredder has completed the follow-up to 2008’s Perpetual Flame, and like that album Tim “Ripper” Owens will once again take the microphone duties.

"This title truly is the right one for this album," explains Yngwie. "I mean, after all these years, some kind of force is driving me to create something that totally surpasses everything I've done before.

"I tried to capture the raw energy of a live performance, yet push myself to the most demanding level of playing and composing to harness that elusive magic that can't just be switched on. All the way out, caution to the wind, but disciplined performances was what I went for. Maybe I did it too, check it out!"

Whilst there is no denying the talent and the abilities of Malmsteen I have to be honest and admit that I find the vast majority of his output somewhat tedious and repetitve. it's almost akin to an extended shred-lesson with a backing band.
I've also read numerous interviews with him and he is a smug, pretentious man. Horrid.

That said - I'll at least have a listen prior to (possible) dismissal.

Saw this on his site a few days ago. I'm so excited! I loved Caprici di Diablo on the last album and can't wait for what seems to be a follow-up, Caprici di Inferno!

Yngwie did't write a good album since Alchemy, his songs sound the same, the solos are unmemorable... oh man, he should start listening to contemporary music and see what's going on in the world instead of just sticking to good old Purple and Bach...
