30 Seconds To Mars and fellow alt-rockers The Used are slated to co-headline next year's Taste of Chaos tour, according to 30 Seconds To Mars' frontman Jared Leto and his brother/drummer Shannon.
Taste Of Chaos is the winter spin-off of the summer Warped Tour, both of which were masterminded by tour producer Kevin Lyman. Dates have yet to be announced, but Taste of Chaos is expected to kick off in February.
"[Kevin Lyman's] proactive in that whole eco-friendly living, and that's what gravitated me toward him,"
Shannon Leto said. "
The Warped Tour was really well thought out and accommodating to us. He's a great guy. For the Taste of Chaos, the bus and all the trucks are going to be fueled by vegetable oil. We're going to have recycled papers--all the fliers and the little doo-dads are going to be biodegradable. It's going to be really exciting."
On 30 Seconds To Mars' eponymous debut album, actor/musician/artist Jared Leto admits he settled for metaphors and double entendres to hide the true meaning of his songs. But that changed with the follow-up, the recently released "A Beautiful Lie".
"I did want to be much more direct -- I wanted it to be much more of a confessional landscape," said Leto.
"[The debut 30 Seconds to Mars album was] filled with metaphors and, as successful as the first album was, it was still very, very personal to me," Leto added. "Once you uncovered what was underneath, it was entirely personal. This album is much more emotionally transparent. I think it's exciting to put as much of yourself [as you can] into your art. That's what makes it the truest it can be."
30 Seconds to Mars -- whose lineup also feature bassist Matt Wachter and guitarist Tomo Milcevic -- are kicking off the latest MTV2 $2 Bill Concert Series October 17 with Cobra Starship, Head Automatica and Men Women and Children.
