AC/DC Planning Farewell Tour?

XM's Boneyard/VH1 Classic host Eddie Trunk revealed a rumor on his "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM earlier tonight (Friday, March 28) that Australian hard rock legends AC/DC will embark on a "farewell" tour later in the year once the recording sessions for their new album have been completed.

AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams told Spinner.com last month that AC/DC would enter the studio March 1 to begin recording its first new album in eight years. The web site caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, where he said, "God I'm ready."

As for touring, however, Williams was less sure about the group's intentions. He explained, "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that."

The band itself is now international, with members scattered across the globe. Malcolm and Angus Young divide their time between Britain and Australia (with Angus also spending time in the Netherlands because he has a Dutch wife). Singer Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are based in the U.S., while drummer Phil Rudd lives in New Zealand.

Reports surfaced in January that AC/DC was nearly finished recording its next album, but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied the story.

AC/DC's last all-new set, "Stiff Upper Lip", came out in 2000.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Legends. I hope this is Another rumour ...

They did say on Stiff Upper Lip DVD that they'd only stop when the fans want 'em to stop... Hope it's not their age, coz look at a few of their idols: The guys from Rolling Stones are still going!!

For Those About To Rock... I Salute You

They'll Always be rocking...

That would be awesome and sad at the same time. Wasn't that last bit about the band members repeated from the last AC/DC post?

These guys made me start listening to music. Even though I don't listen to them that much anymore I still know their songs by heart. I would love to see them live one day.

Being there when they say good bye would be extremely cool. But as you guys already said, sad.

For those about to rock, I salute you.

The only question I have is who is Eddie Trunk.... I read about him all the time releasing rumors (some true some not) and why is he so important that he finds out this information.

I dont believe rumours tbh.

And tbh, he didnt say one thing than even led to a farewell tour bar the word "if"
And he said He doesnt mean to be negative sounding so.

It's stereo amp, and I don't think it's tube. However, for a stereo amp, it is very good. Don't plug guitar into it; just use it as hi-fi if it works.

If this album would be better that back in black and highway to hell put togather. It'll probally be the best album ever!

+1. The Stones still seem to be kicking it...but if they feel as if they need to finally settle down, they need to. They had the best run anyone could have so far. As to whether they are TRULY done or not, I guess time will tell.

As much as i would love them to make a album and tour a few times like they did in the 80s that aint going to happen being my favorite i will salute their decision they have gave us time-less classics and will be remembered as one of the greatest bands ever. I just hope that people stop compairing brian and bon they both are great in theyr own right and will have their names rememeber in rock forever.

Umm, at what point in the article does cliff williams ay it wil be there last tour? seriously, its probably a rumour spread by a DJ who was low on listeners, and wanted people to reply to an ACDC breakup.

i always loved ACDC, i don't think any band should stop touring till they're dead/incapasitated ( though after a while, you gotta stop recording before your stuff gets stale)

I don't really care for acdc. After back in black they just started sqeezing out crap. It all started to sound the same and wasn't really good, in my opinion. Would I want to see them live? Maybe it Bon Scott was still alive. I hope they don't try make any more albums, I hate when bands do that when they get old...they should just tour and play the old stuff... I'm sure their fans will like that much better.

AC/DC have been rumored to have been splitting up and retiring for the last 30 years. Malcolm has stated in many interviews that they will be around as long as fans show up. Weather it be a packed out stadium or a BBQ with a raffle prize, if AC/DC still have there fans, then they will keep on rocking. AC/DC are NOT retiring, they are not saying farewell, and they have a stronger fan base now then they have ever had. If you don't get your news right from the horses mouth, then don't believe AC/DC are going anywhere just yet.

Even if the farewell tour is happening, the legends known as AC/DC will live on, through the many years, even after they perish, in the hearts of the AC/DC fans and rock n' roll fans. For Those Who Just Rocked Time Itself, We Salute You.
