Ani DiFranco Extends Fall 'Letter' Delivery

The next round of tour dates kicks off Sept. 11 in Kalamazoo, MI, following DiFranco's Sept. 5 appearance at the moe.down outdoor festival in Turin, NY. The new dates on the singer's plate fall mainly in October, with DiFranco and her backing crew - Todd Sickafoose on upright bass and Allison Miller on drums - setting up camp on the West Coast for the entire month. The full schedule is included below.

DiFranco's most recent studio album, "Red Letter Year," surfaced last September. The set marks the singer's 20th studio effort on her own Righteous Babe label and her first release since relocating to New Orleans and becoming a mom.

"When I listen to my new record, I hear a very relaxed me, which I think has been absent in a lot of my recorded canon," DiFranco said in a press statement. "Now I feel like I’m in a really good place."

DiFranco also recently unveiled a new live album in her Official Bootleg Series. The latest set - which is available at DiFranco's website - captures her 19-song Sept. 2006 performance at Saratoga, CA's Mountain Winery and includes the tracks "Red Letter Year," "Coming Up" and "Studying Stones."

God she's amazing live. So much personality in her performance. I saw her at Bonnaroo and she was, hands down, my favorite performance of the festival.

Also, you people who don't know who Ani DiFranco is should be mocked and ridiculed for the rest of your lives. She's one of those most intense musician-activists than any generation has ever known. She started Righteous Babe Records, and she's a huge advocate of being Independent from Major Labels; In fact, she is probably the most successful independent artist ever. She's amazing.

More successful.. But it doesn't matter, because Dispatch released several albums under a major label. Not independent.

She is incredibly talented, but I agree that her albums do have a fair share of filler. Still, she's definitely one of the best artists out there.
