Black Sabbath Were Coachella Headliners
Black Sabbath were set to headline this year's Coachella Festival, but were forced to pull out after news that guitarist Tony Iommi has cancer. Although the band were never officially announced as part of the lineup, Billboard say the rumour has been confirmed by multiple industry sources. It is unclear which of the current headliners of Radiohead, The Black Keys or Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg moved up the bill to replace their slot. Iommi's illness was originally announced via the Black Sabbath Facebook page: "With the news that Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. "Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan - the 'IRON MAN' of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery." Despite the sad news, Black Sabbath will continue with plans to record its first album in 33 years with producer Rick Rubin (or at least, Rubin's assistant). Work on the album will continue in the UK while Tony recovers.
