Blink-182 To Tour Without Travis Barker
Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker could skip parts of the band's forthcoming world tour because of his fear of flying. He developed his phobia after being in a plane crash in 2008. Among the side-effect are that the band had to travel by boat to their current European dates. Now Barker says he probably won't joing the tour across Australia in 2013 because the 24-hour flight will be too much to bear. "It's hard to say what the band could do or what its potential is, because I can't really get everywhere," he told Red Bulletin (via NME). Despite his fears, Barker is keen to overcome his phobia for his children. "I'm contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it." In January, bassist Mark Hoppus confirmed that Blink-182 had started writing the follow-up to "Neighborhoods". "At the moment all I've got is a bunch of chord progressions and ideas," he said at the time. "It's more me playing my guitar and coming up with little ideas and melodies. By the time it goes to Tom and Travis [Barker] and we work on it as a band, who knows what it will sound like."
