Blur have revealed a brand new song, and announced plans to headline a special show to close the London 2012 Olympics.
It follows comments from the band which had said their reunion tonight at the Brit Awards may be their last.
The band will be awarded with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award, and will perform an 11-minute set to close the Brit Awards - the longest ever given to a recipient of the award, according to Gigwise.
Writing in The Sun, bassist Alex James said the Brit Awards reunion was like "reassembling the A-Team for one last job". He also explained why they originally split - and why they are now happy to perform together again.
"As much as we loved Blur, if you do anything day in, day out for 15 years, it becomes a job," he said. "We all needed to go our separate ways and do other things with our lives. Now when we play together, it's for the joy of it, like in our early days."
Of course, the band have now accepted an invite to play at the Olympics show, which is raising hopes for a full-scale reunion tour and album.
Listen to new song "Under The Westway" here, the first since 2010's "Fools Day" which was released as a limited edition vinyl and download for Record Store Day.

Great news. Blur were never really a 'Brit Pop' band though, their influences and mix of styles were too varied, they just got lumped into it with bands like Supergrass cos it was cool at the time.
Ah, Blur was my favorite band as a kid. Still remember when my dad told me about Graham Coxon's departure. It wasn't all that bad though, because I spent all of the next summer listening to Think Tank. Good times, still a smashing album and a smashing band.
So, to represent the UK and their contribution to music over many decades and to close the most anticipated sports event in the world they choose Blur?!?
Am I missing something?

I completely agree. Blur are ok but really?, should have gotten The Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd for the Olympics.

They'd need to get Mick Jagger to talk to Keith Richards for the first one and a spade for the second, but sure.
Blur is cool and all, but... OVER PINK FLOYD OR LED ZEPPELIN??? I hope this a prank! It's the LONDON OLYMPICS! You don't get a London Olympics every year or two! You should get the biggest bands from London to represent London! Blur? They're good, but NO! If there's no Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd at the Olympics, then some band is going to get bashed!

If you people actually read the news, then you would know 2 things. 1. Robert Plant is WAY too stubborn to have a Led Zeppelin reunion, even if it IS the Olympics. 2. Pink Floyd only has 3/5 of the original members left, and I personally think they're awesome but they would look kind of awkward at a major event compared to Blur because all the essential members of Blur are still there and that just wouldn't suit the Olympics. However I do agree that Radiohead and Muse are totally better candidates.
what happened to Coldplay? I mean Blur is cool and all but I dont understand the logic... Muse, Radiohead, shit let Adele do it.... I mean not to shit on Blur but there are far better choices.... get Skream and Benga to do it.
Blur defined a generation... They have as much right to be up there than anyone else, more right than Muse to be fair. Also RichieJovie would you say the same about Bob Dylan or Hendrix? They couldn't sing, they were still awesome though.
