Emo-rockers Cartel, who recently emerged from a bubble-like recording studio, have rolled out plans for an extensive headlining trek behind their new, self-titled album, which is due in stores Aug. 20.
The Atlanta group will play a stretch of scattered amusement park and fair dates before kicking off its proper headlining tour Aug. 20 in Chicago, the first of 28 cities on the outing, which stretches well into October. The band's complete itinerary is included below. Fellow emo acts Weatherbox and Nightmare of You will provide opening support during the trek.
Cartel wrote and recorded the new set inside a plastic bubble constructed in New York's Hudson River Park. Passers by were allowed to view the band at work inside the temporary live/work space, and the process was captured on an MTV program called "
Band in the Bubble."
The group entered the bubble - which contained a 2,000-square-foot recording studio, as well as a kitchen, dining room, lounge area and bathroom - on May 24, finally emerging June 12 to perform the new album before a live audience. Producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, who also handled production chores on the band's previous set, 2005's "Chroma," were also sealed inside the bubble.
The band plans to shoot the video for "Lose It," the new disc's lead single, sometime in July, according to a press release.
