Dance-pop rockers Cobra Starship are gearing up for their first headlining trek, which will stop in more than 45 cities across North America.
"The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour" (a nod to the film "Zoolander") is set to kick off Jan. 16 in Poughkeepsie, NY, and criss-cross the US, with a few stops in Canada, through March 8. The outing will also feature pop-rock bands Metro Station, We The Kings, and The Cab.
Cobra Starship is supporting its sophomore album, "
Viva La Cobra!," which hit the streets last month. Produced by Fall Out Boy's
Patrick Stump, the set largely was written on tour during this year's sold-out Honda Civic Tour, according to a press release. Lead single "The City is at War" is scheduled to impact radio nationwide in January, with a companion video set to premiere in early 2008. The song is streaming at Cobra Starship's
MySpace page.
The band will also be the subject of a January installment of MTV's "52 Bands," which highlights one new band per week throughout the year.
Created by Midtown frontman Gabe Saporta, Cobra Starship burst onto the scene last year with the hit song "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" from the soundtrack to horror/comedy flick "Snakes on a Plane." A few months later, the band released its debut album, "While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets," which snagged the No. 1 spot on Billboard's new-artist album chart.
