Guns N' Roses To Kick Off World Tour In Mexico |
| artist: guns n roses |
date: 04/25/2007 |
category: upcoming tours |

|
Guns N' Roses have announced that their 2007 World Tour will begin on June 2 in Monterrey Mexico. The tour had been delayed due to an injury to bassist Tommy Stinson's left wrist. Fortunately, the sprain is healing nicely and soon the band will be ready to rock like only they can.
June will see GN'R perform three concerts in Mexico before heading to Australia and New Zealand. It's been fifteen years since GN'R last performed in Mexico, Australia, or New Zealand and the anticipation is beyond belief. July has GN'R traveling to Japan for a series of rescheduled concerts. Fans attending can expect to hear GN'R classics like "Welcome To the Jungle", "November Rain", "Patience" and "Sweet Child O' Mine" along with blistering new songs from the band's forthcoming "Chinese Democracy" album like "Madagascar", "IRS" and "Better".
Guns N' Roses tour dates:
06/02 - Monterrey Mexico Arena Monterrey
06/03 - Guadalajara Mexico VFG Arena
06/05 - Mexico City Mexico City Sports Palace
06/10 - Perth Australia Burswood
06/13 - Adelaide Australia Adelaide Entertainment Centre
06/15 - Melbourne Australia Rod Laver Arena
06/20 - Brisbane Australia Brisbane Entertainment Centre
06/23 - Sydney Australia Acer Arena
06/29 - Auckland New Zealand Vector Arena
07/14 - Tokyo Japan Makuhari Messe
07/15 - Tokyo Japan Makuhari Messe
07/17 - Tokyo Japan Budokan Hall
07/18 - Nagoya Japan Rainbow Hall
07/21 - Osaka Japan Osaka Jo-Hall
More dates will be announced.
2006 saw Guns N' Roses perform over 70 concerts all over the world to rave reviews. With the release of the highly anticipated and long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" album imminent, 2007 promises to be the time that Guns N' Roses reclaim their throne as the world's most dangerous band. Lead vocalist W. Axl Rose, guitarists Robin Finck, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboard players Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman, and drummer Frank Ferrer are a rock n' roll spectacular that have to be experienced to be believed.
In other news, Robin Finck has posted an open letter on his official web site regarding the band's cancelled shows and its postponed tour:
"I'm writing now in the wake of the recently postponed and cancelled GNR commitments in Japan and in South Africa," he wrote. "I guess I'm writing because I too am disappointed, have a conscience, a website, and I am not on the Bullet Train to Osaka this evening.
"I purely want to share with those whom were avid for seeing GNR at these concerts that I too was looking forward to seeing you all. The band was primed and pumped, production packed and shipped. Then, much to our distress, unforeseen circumstance walked in, dropped its surly case and announced with certainty, 'I'm here!' What can we do.
"I have received innumerable emails from real people who where hooking up with friends or family, flying to faraway cities, booking hotels or friends' couches, docking the USS Kitty Hawk, and otherwise scheduling their time and enthusiasm around these events. In short, these peeps wuz straight stung adrenalized and lettin' me square have it! I too was psyched about the shows, planning to meet friends and family, watch the cherry blossom blossom etc. It is my wish that your bounce forward from here be one of a willful arc and opportunity. Believe me, I'm swallowing that very pill by your side."
Thanks for the info to Blabbermouth.net.

: I dont understand why they couldn't have just found a replacement bass player, rather than postponing Japan and that coke fest. I mean, its a bass player, anybody with basic guitar talent could have done the job. He is no claypool and the songs aren't that technically advanced. Plus he is not some legend that must be there like its not a gnr show without him. Oh well, they better have used they delay to get some work done on the album.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 12:52 pm / quote |

You might keep in mind that it is not axl that plans the tours, but his management and perhaps also the record company but I'm not sure about them.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 04:00 pm / quote |

Did you read the "more dates to be announced" at the end of that statement? I've heard they're gonna do about 70 shows this year.
And CD will hopefully be out this year. Some effin awesome songs on there, especially Better and Madagascar.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 04:11 pm / quote |

That's ironic... Tommy WAS a Replacement. I mean, would you want to tour the world with your band with some replacement, just because the original sprained his wrist and you were too impatient to wait for it to heal?POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 04:52 pm / quote |

: at this point, the only way that axl can pull his name ouf of the mud is if this album is the best album ever made in history, which i doubt will happen. no doubt it will be ok or good (heaven forbid if it sucks completely), but in order to get any respect from me after over 10 years of making this album and delaying it constanstly (to build anticipation i presume), he's only making my standards go up, and i doubt this new GNR will be able to reach them.
that's just my opinion though. i'll check out the album if/when it comes out though.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 06:16 pm / quote |

: Well, B-Man Joe, they toured in 2001-2002 aswell.
But Hell who cares?
Good for Australia, Mexico, and New Zealand!
Every news critic bashes them cause Slash isn't there, yet after they see a show they shut the hell up.
And why do people say if Slash isn't the guitar player they don't care? Are you saying that unless Slash is in a band, then you don't like them just for that reason?

: Calm down everyone, stop shouting names at each other, it's so useless, you're hiding behind your computer calling someone a fag and another one a douchebag, we don't need it.

: I still can't believe they're allowed to call themselves Guns n Roses, it's like a Beatles cover band claiming to be the Beatles. I would never pay to see this line up, nothing but a cover band, the only original member is an irritating thick as shit wife beating red neck moron and I'd rather give my money to some original artists. I'm really not trying to be a smart ass but that is a bit over the top don't you think. If someone does what Axl has done there are bound to be many ppl who disagree with him, strongly for that matter. Unless people are using foul language or anything too obscene then censoring them would be down right wrong.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 10:40 pm / quote |

This is UG. This is not a democracy. Who cares about what's "right" and "wrong". People may "disagree" about what is right and wrong, so basically those with power shall do whatever they want. Live with it.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 11:08 pm / quote |

I would agree with you, except for the fact that every single Velvet Revolver, GNR, Chinese Democracy, Slash, or related article turns into the same exact blathering. And it does nothing to further the conversation. While this is not a democracy, we appreciate the input, and understand we try to let the conversation be as open as possible, but there are certain topics that lead themselves to off-topic arguing, spamming, or flaming more than others.POSTED: 04/25/2007 - 11:21 pm / quote |

Guns N Roses ARE together, havnt you heard? World Tour in Mexico and all that? Saying that the current Guns N Roses are a coverband is like saying Motorhead or Megadeth are cover bands, but nobody says that because nobody is that stupid. : You guys have no idea. If you think axl should stop touring and finish the album well guess what... he has finished it. The final mixings and comfirmations are being made. He has nothing but spare time on his hands now so why wouldnt he tour and promote his project that u have been working on for 10 years. Next thing... Dont insult axl for kicking the other guys out because he didnt. They left on their own account because they were getting sick of axl being an arogant perfectionist. That is the real fact. try and not be so narrow minded. He was arogant which was around 5 years ago but he has changed alot. But dont not listen to him because of his personality. He is a genius and with all the stuff going around about steven adler and slash i wouldnt be surprised if i see a reunion in the next 5 years..
BTW I GOT TICKETS TO SEE THEM AT SYDNEY!!!!!POSTED: 04/29/2007 - 12:41 am / quote |

: ^^^Strat n' Zilcho has a few points. And yeah it doesn'r really matter. i mean, Megadeth for example, who cares about a lineup change. All it means is that theres a newer vibe there. So Axl had Slash and Mustaine had Friedman, big deal. The point is people, live with it. Its a freakin' fortune that Guns N' Roses still exists man and those legendary songs are still being performed in the legendary manner. And even better that Axl is still the fiery performer that he was before. The rest of the band are really amazing musicians as well so theres no point whining about them. So yeah, and I've posted this a million times and i'll still say it that the songs that made GN'R legendary are all Axl's babies, you all know that. Sure, Slash and Axl were like musical soulmates back in the day. But things change. I personally don't mind the Synchronicity of existance between VR and GN'Rs because I listen to 'music' and I don't think it should further matter to people than music.
