Hoobastank: Fan Appreciation Tour

Hoobastank are not going to wait for the May release of their third album, setting out to play a round of spring concerts.

Billed as the "Every Fan For Himself" fan appreciation tour, according to a press release, the 10-date outing kicks off in mid-April. All of the tickets will be given away for free via local radio contests, local retailers and via Hoobastank's website. The band also plans to select one local act from each city to open the show. More information is posted at the site.

Fans who score tickets can expect to hear material from Hoobastank's forthcoming album, "Every Man For Himself," which follows 2003's Grammy-nominated "The Reason." The group began working on the disc last summer with producer Howard Benson (P.O.D., My Chemical Romance), who also oversaw "The Reason."

In addition to the upcoming tour, Hoobastank will help launch "Every Man for Himself" with appearances on the "The Tonight Show" (May 12), "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" (May 16), "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (May 18) and "Last Call With Carson Daly" (May 25), according to Island Records.

The tour itinerary, according to liveDaily.com, is as follows:

04/11 - Cambridge, MA - Middle East
04/13 - New York, NY - Hard Rock Cafe
04/14 - Philadelphia, PA - Northstar
04/15 - Atlanta, GA - Vinyl
04/19 - Minneapolis, MN - Ascot Room
04/20 - Chicago, IL - House of Blues
04/21 - Saint Louis, MO - Mississippi Nights
04/22 - Englewood, CO - Gothic Theatre
04/24 - San Francisco, CA - Slim's
04/26 - Dallas, TX - Granada
04/27 - Houston, TX - Warehouse

Hah, just what I was thinking.

Meh, they appeal to the mainstream with that The Reason song (I'm normally a sucker for ballads, but I hate that one), but their lead singer cannot handle heavier songs, and they just come off as being way, way overrated.

^^^ I Agree

They obviously don't realise that by giving away free tickets means that people on eBay will be paying absolutely loads to go see them meaning that the fans are having to pay more because they're free (if you catch my meaning).

I like some of their stuff, but the singer isn't amazing. Don't think I'd see them if they came over here!

ok for all you haters, how many bands actually do this for their fans, this is great that a popular band who can actually play their instruments are doing this

I don't like their music one iota, but that is a really nice gesture from them.

I them saw when they opened for VR last summer and they got so much sh*T from the fans there it was ridiculous...they tried to pump everyone up by sounding all bad ass and what not. I can't say that I dislike them tho..I occasionally listen to their 2 albums, but after hearing that single they put up i'm gonna be a little hesitant on this album. Still its a nice thing that they're doin this tour

Yes. Now go home to your mommy.

Hoobastank, there's nothing really really great about 'em, but there's nothing bad about 'em. I think they've done a good job in terms of their career and music releases. I think their songs are pretty good, but I must agree the singer isn't anywhere near Brandon Boyd (Incubus).

can't say i like them, but i respect them for that. not many bands (commercial bands especially) would do that.

Hey, isn't this the site where if bands seel their music they're sell-outs. This band (which i honestly don't know) are giving free shit and all you ****ers don't have a good word to say. I think anytime art is free it's a good thing and good for them. Most of you have no ideals or convictions, you just bitch and moan about something you're unable or unwilling to do.

^^^
sell (sorry)

newbie000001 :
The fact that they are doing free shows is a nice gesture, despite the fact that people will try to ebay tickets or whatnot...the band will get no income from that anyway. Old hoobastank definitely beats the current, somewhat vaginal direction the band is going. for reference, check out pieces or can i buy you a drink. Hopefully the new album will be less "will this make the radio?" and more "this is music we like making."

good on em aye!

its about time someone in the music industry shows us their appreciation in a way like this! i dont think it brings us justice to say 'thankyou all' at a concert..

hoobastank are decent, i can handle listening to them..

Oh goody. Can't wait. I'm going to make all of the dates on the tour and then I hope they do another one right after that so I can be at all of those dates and then maybe they'll like me and give me their autographs and maybe sing some songs with me.

Go to one of their concerts and tell me that Doug can't handle heavier songs.

Listen to "Pieces" and tell me that Doug can't handle heavier songs.

And to anyone who doesn't like them, fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have this inkling feeling that the majority of people who don't like them, don't like them because of the song "The Reason".

The album "The Reason" is one of the few albums that I own that has no songs that I skip through when I listen to it, even now. It's completely solid throughout.

And to people saying that people will ebay the tickets, all you have to do to get tickets is sign up on the message boards and add your name to the list of people going to a particular show.

I'm going to the one in Chicago at the House of Blues. It's going to be an amazing show.

It's also cool because you can submit some of the music that you or your band has done and you might get a chance to open for them.

Exactly... If there's nothing great about them, why would they have fans. By the way that "Go home to your mommy" thing really hurt; i think im gonna kill myself i hurt so badly on the inside. PS; before you decide to post, take that large, pointy stick out of your ass

It's strange that you dislike because Hoobastank's my prefer band ever and the reason cd the best cd FOR ME!
So if you dislike try to be good as them and even if you're better, you won't crticize them because they got milons of fans, an enormous talent and the shows are awesome!
