Killswitch Engage Frontman To Be Replaced By All That Remains Vocalist

Killswitch Engage frontman Howard Jones has been forced to take a mini-hiatus from the band "due to unforeseen circumstances". All That Remains frontman Phil Labonte will fill in. Killswitch Engage are currently on tour with The Devil Wears Prada and Dark Tranquillity.

"Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones is leaving the band’s current headlining tour with The Devil Wears Prada and Dark Tranquility due to unforeseen circumstances. All That Remains vocalist Phil Labonte will be filling in for Jones for a few shows in the interim, until the KsE guys can determine what the plan will be for the remaining tour dates, which are currently scheduled to run through the end of March."

Touring under the moniker Philswitch Engage, frontman Labonte piped up:

"Yep, I’m singing for KsE until HoJo gets better. Not sure how long it’ll be but I’m here till they don’t need me anymore."

I'm a metalhead and I don't agree with you. Just because you're a metalhead doesn't mean you're obligated to hate all "lesser" bands. Killswitch is a decent band in my opinion, and All That Remains is as well--Overcome is pretty generic, but The Fall of Ideals is an amazing metal(-core if you must) album.

But... why is Dark Tranquillity touring with these bands? I guess melodic death metal and metalcore are overlapping more and more...

That wasn't what i said, how ever i did mean to say that they're generic and are usually hated by Metalheads. Naturally there exceptions and hating all Metalcore bands just because they're Metalcore would be ignorant. But imo Metalcore isn't even Metal,but Hardcore with Metal influence's.

well this is going to make seeing this tour quite interesting. the funny thing is, Phil origionally was their vocalist, but was later replaced by Howard. funny how things work out. hope Howard is ok...

A lot of KsE's early tours involved In Flames and they cite them and other Gothenburg bands as an influence from the start.

Anyways, Phil's a good choice. He was actually "runner up" behind Howard when Jesse Leach left the band.

Wether is actually band, is taste, but that it's hate by Metalheads is a fact. And i'm not trying to shut them down. I'm not writing whole paragraphs on why they suck etc etc. I could do that however but that would be a waste of my precious time. Spending it arguing with you guys is a lot more productive.

This title is misleading, UG failure once again. Phil is only coming in temporarily. He's good, even though Howard has that deeper operatic voice. This should be interesting....

this is legit. im not a huge fan of kse but i love ATR's Fall of Ideals and phil as a vocalist. i dont care whether you like metalcore but being able to scream and sing choruses is talent imo

Argh. I used to love ATR until "Overcome". It kinda ruined them for me. Judging by that video though, Phil's not doing such a bad job at taking Howard's place for the moment. Lets hope he gets back soon.

Right along side me Sabbath, In Flames, King Diamond, Strapping young lad, Megadeth and Metallica I've got KsE, ATR, BFMV, As I Lay Dying and some A7X.

Metal is such a broad genre. To say metalcore (though I rarely see a proper definition of this branch) isn't metal is idiotic and saying no metalheads enjoy these types of bands is flat out ignorant.

Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, In Flames and KsE was one of the most memorable shows of my life!

... I think I've heard Unearth lumped into metalcore actually. If you say Unearth isn't metal you're not a metalhead.
