Nu-metal standard-bearers Korn will return to the road this spring after lining up plans to begin work on a new studio album.
The group kicks off the outing April 25 in Tucson, AZ, with the 23-city trek coming to a close May 31 in Des Moines, IA.
The band is working on its ninth studio album, and the first since new drummer Ray Luzier signed on as a fulltime group member. Luzier has been touring with Korn since the 2006 departure of original drummer David Silveria.
Ross Robinson, who helmed the band's first two albums, will produce the still-untitled new album, according to The Pulse of Radio. The group's frontman, Jonathan Davis told the radio service that the group intends to go retro on the new record.
"It's gonna be very raw, it's gonna be old school like the first Korn records," he said. "Basically, it's gonna be recorded as a four-piece band, with just [guitarist James] Munky [Shaffer] on guitars and [bassist Reginald] Fieldy [Arvizu] and Ray and me. We really want to go back to that old-school vibe. It was just really intense and emotional and, you know, I have a lot of built-up aggression toward certain things that I need to get out for this record."
Thanks for the report to Livedaily.com.

: This new record sounds promising. I didn't mind the last 2 records but I felt that all the extra vocalists and percussionists and keyboard-players and fancy stuff was getting a bit silly. It's a great time for them to go back to just those dudes on their own (even without two founding members) making music.
And JD talking about aggression/emotion and the fact it's gonna be produced by Ross Robinson? Sweeeet.POSTED: 04/09/2009 - 09:32 am / quote |

: They can tour Europe all they want, but I wish they'd stay the **** out of America. We have a thrash revival going on and we don't need the Worst Fucking Metal Band Ever (patent pending) spreading their message of turntable scratches, whined vocals, and bands named after vegetables to innocent children trying to enjoy their Evile CD.

Says you. Just becuase they're technically better doesn't mean they'd be better for the band. Imagine what they'd soun like with someone like Neil Pert or Matt from Mudvayne blasting in there. It'd be awful with the others.
Besides, I liked his drumming. POSTED: 04/09/2009 - 10:18 pm / quote |
