Lars Ulrich on Metallica's Glasto Set: 'We'll Open With 'Wonderwall''
In an interview with the Guardian (via NME) Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has joked that the band may open their Glastonbury festival set with a cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall."

The band would be replicating Jay-Z, who opened his set with the song in 2008 after Noel Gallagher said he wasn't right for the headline slot at the festival:

"Jay-Z came out and played 'Wonderwall', right? So maybe we gotta go out and do our rendition of 'Wonderwall'. We'll start with 'Wonderwall' and we'll take it from there. Ha ha, listen, you've just gotta go out and be yourself and be proud of what you're doing."

Ulrich also took time to respond to comments made by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson that his band was better than Metallica:

"I will never argue with that. I will always support Bruce Dickinson in whatever nonsense he says. That's part of the fun. So go Iron Maiden! It's fine."

The drummer also confirmed that the band will not be bringing the "Metallica By Request" format to Glastonbury and will be sticking with a normal Metallica set instead:

"Glastonbury will be a straight-up Metallica setlist, whatever that may mean, since it's our first time playing there. I usually don't write the setlist before about 15-30 minutes before we go onstage, depending on what the mood is in the camp."
