Led Zeppelin Reuniting For A Show

Led Zeppelin Reuniting For A Show

Rock legends Led Zeppelin will reportedly reunite for a one-off memorial concert in honor of their late record boss.

If true, it would mark the third time that the '70s legends have played since disbanding. The band has only performed a handful of concerts, since their split in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham. But singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will re-group alongside Bonham's son Jason for a special concert in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London.

A source says, "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date."

"And no one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out."

"It has been hoped for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year."

Ertegun died in December after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a Rolling Stones concert. The likes of Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks, and Crosby, Stills & Nash all played his New York memorial in April of this year.

Didn't Plant and Page get together in 1993 or 1994 and do some stuff? I used to have that CD Unledded. I thought it was live material? Zep would be very sweet to see. I got that Box DVD with the old concert footage. EXCELLENT!!

This should not be done. I'm a die hard zeppelin fan, but for those of you who don't see how important Bonham is, go listen to their songs. He fills up so much of the space that Page and Plant leaves open. Him and John Paul Jones are unreplaceable. There is not a single drummer alive that can play the stuff Bonham did.

That's really not true, the rhythms he played weren't that hard, honestly. However, had you said no one could play it LIKE Bonham, I would agree with you 100% there.

I'd love to go, even if they sucked really bad, I just need to see them play once in my lifetime.

well a lot of people CAN play it but i understand that they cant play it exactly like him because you can never play things like the person who originally did the stuff because they know when they can do little fills and change it because theyve done it so many times. however i think his son (not knowing how good he is) could be more reminiscent of his dad than other drummers

I think the guys know that they could get a better drummer if they wanted, but they want John's son there because it means something, y'know? It's kinda symbolic. John would want his son to do it the best he could.

whats with all these bands reuniting in 2007? first they do a one off show and then they play a couple more shows and before you know it there doing a reunion tour and a comeback album that would be awesome, and Dave Grohl on drums would kick ass in my opinion he'd be a perfect replacement for Led Zeppelin.

yes they toured, but it was from Plant's solo work, with page on guitar for tour, and i think they played some led zepp too.

You hurt and abused tellin all of your lies,
Run around sweet baby, lord how they hypnotize.
Sweet little baby, I dont know where youve been,
Gonna love you baby, here I come again.
Every day I work so hard
Bringin home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away.
Dont know where youre goin
Only know just where youve been,
Sweet little baby, I want you again.
Been dazed and confused for so long, its not true,

Take it easy baby, let them say what they will.

If it did indeed happen, I wouldn't go to the gig, and wouldn't be very interested in concerts in general of old Zeppelin stuff. Plant's voice just can't produce the high stuff like he used to, and I'd rather remember them from their prime. So, I'm not too opposed to it, but it doesn't interest me to see the performance. But that's just my thoughts.

Yeah Dave Grohl is a good drummer but Jason Bonham deserves to be behind the drum kit if this happens. But if Jason can't then the only guy that I can see filling in Bonham's shoes would be Neil Peart. It would be insane to see Neil Peart drumming to some zeppelin tunes. This should not be done. I'm a die hard zeppelin fan, but for those of you who don't see how important Bonham is, go listen to their songs. He fills up so much of the space that Page and Plant leaves open. Him and John Paul Jones are unreplaceable. There is not a single drummer alive that can play the stuff Bonham did.

we know that dude but at least its his son. John taught the kid to play

All these people saying Zep are jumping on the bandwagon:

a) they're musicians who centred a huge part of their lives around recording and touring under the LZ moniker. Its their baby, and if they want to revisit it, why stop them?

b) it's Led Zeppelin! Any wagon they jump on, they take command of!

Holy freaking christ!

I don't care if I have to pay £500 and travel the country, I am going to a show if they tour.

All these people saying 'they're jumping on the bandwagon'. Who cares? Music these days is so crap - it's good to have some decent bands reforming and touring to provide some decent rock music.

There is a possibility that the tickets won't be that expensive though - think about it, they've said before that if they reformed it wouldn't be about the money, so, as far as page/plant/JPJ are concerned, it doesn't matter what the tickets cost.

This is immense though, I mean Zeppelin re-forming? What's next? Chinese Democracy being released?

File this one under “Communication Breakdown.”

Earlier this week, rumors of a Led Zeppelin one-off reunion show and possible 2008 tour circulated throughout the internet.

Yesterday, at a press conference in Greece for this weekend’s RockWave Festival, headliner Robert Plant denied the rumors and said he hadn’t heard anything about a Zep reunion.

When asked about the one-off show, Plant joked, “I don’t know if there would be enough doctors to support it.”

Previously, sources close to the Zeppelin camp had said that members Jimmy Page, Plant and John Paul Jones were planning to reunite for a memorial concert in London for Ahmet Ertegun, the Atlantic Records founder who died in 2006, and that if all went well, a full Zeppelin tour (with Jason Bonham on drums) would commence next year.

The RockWave Festival is happening June 29 and July 1 and 3, and will feature such artists as Plant, Metallica, Chris Cornell, Europe, Mastodon, My Dying Bride, Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, Iced Earth and others. For more information, visit rockwavefestival.gr.

It will probably be just in the uk( if it isn't im sorry for this remark), also Jon Bonhams
son played for white snake and he was also in that super rock group with sebastian bach and nudge so he is highly regarded!

the titans of metal are to return... this is probably the most amazing news i've heard in along time... those of you who are doubtful of the performances being a letdown, you have to realize that these guys haven't played as Led Zeppeling for almost 30 years... people get older and they start to lose abilities from when they were young... obviously plant's voice is going to be nothing like when he was in his 20's on the first couple of zep records, but you have to go with the attitude that its finally happening and its going to be awesome given the circumstances... they're not getting any younger but its should still be a killer show... the only part that will be missing is the John Bonham Moby Dick solo... maybe Jason could compensate for that with something new... i don't know... but still this is going to be awesome if it happens

"WE'RE GONNA GROOVE"

OH MY GOD, if they only do one show that's gonna suck. I'm 14 and if its not anywhere near where I live, which its not gonna be, I'll probably like buy a plane ticket and go see it. basically what I'm saying is that I'll run a way from home in order to see Led Zeppelin. If there's one thing I wanna do before I die its see Zeppelin.

Tster wrote on 07/02/2007 - 04:01 am / quote |
well... it was a lie. Theres gonna be no tour.
