Lostprophets: Back To US

Lostprophets head back to the States later this month for a series of headlining dates that precede the band's stint on HIM's fall tour.

An August 30 kick-off is in place for Lostprophets' outing, and roughly a dozen dates are scattered through mid-October. The group will then link up with HIM from October 18 through Halloween.

Lostprophets -- frontman Ian Watkins, guitarists Mike Lewis and Lee Gaze, bassist Stuart Richardson and keyboardist Jamie Oliver -- are working the road behind their third album, "Liberation Transmission," which surfaced in late June and debuted at No. 33 on The Billboard 200 chart. The set features the cut "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)," which was a Top 10 hit in the UK, and has grabbed traction on US stations.

"Liberation Transmission," which is Lostprophets' first album since 2004's gold-certified "Start Something," was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica). The band recruited Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, The Vandals, NIN) to lay down drum tracks for the set after the departure of original member Mike Chiplin. Ex-Denver Harbor member Ilan Rubin has since taken over as the group's touring drummer.

They're so, so overrated. It's all anyone's talking about in England, and they're the "omfg i luv hevy death metal so the lostprofetz are gud lolz" band at the moment.

Their music is so over-produced it's quite scary.

start sometihng is one of the best albums ive ever heard.... liberation transmission sounds a little weaker. amd yes there style has chnaged i hate to say it but they all look like creeps in that picture compared to the way they used to look from pictures from the first two albums

Liberation Transmission has to take some listening to before really appreciating it. But it's still not their best. Also those are not all the tour dates. More dates are on their myspace page.

What part of England are YOU from? I'm from up north, and I only know one person in particular who's interested in the album... Admittedly, they've had a bit on mentioning in my area today, but that's because they've just booked to play here (becoming probably the biggest band to do Teesside in the past ten years or so, beating Funeral For A Friend, who played here in '04...)

Que la hell lostprophets? I really liked Start Something. Now they turned scene and are trying to get more of an edge. What you had was working. Dumb. We have enough of those edgy bands.

i must admit this album takes a fine listen and its still not great i heard rooftops and i thought at least it sounds like a prophet song the rest of the cd besides 4am forever just wasnt good and i now know why it was produced by Bob Rock

People actually like Start Something? It's so damn overproduced though! I get shudders listening to it because you can tell how much editing it's been through.

what you talking bout mate ? i like lostprophets, but i totaly hate death metal, nu-metal anything like that. i like indie stuff, but i like them as they are good.

Jesus, some of you are just so numb it's scary. I was meaning, all the scene kids who are horrifically influenced by Kerrang and the media, think that the Lost Prophets are really heavy. To quote Total Guitar magazine's front cover: "The UK's hottest metal band".
