Machine Head Step Up For Metallica

Metallica's Bay Area bangers, Machine Head have been confirmed as special guests for next weekend's Wembley Stadium show on 9th July.

Following their victorious Saturday set at the Download Festival and the release of their universally lauded "The Blackening" album, Machine Head are more than ready to take on 70,000 loyal metalheads at the new national stadium.

To say Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel is looking forward to it would be an understatement. "Holy Crap!!!" he enthuses. "A monstrous cherry just got plopped on top of our already huge European festival run pie, in the shape of the Metallica show at Wembley Stadium. Are you effin' kidding me?!? We couldn't have asked for a better ending to this amazing ride through Europe than to play with our Bay Area brothers at this legendary venue. WOO HOO!!"

Machine Head are set to take the stage at 5.15pm. A few remaining seated tickets are on sale now at livenation.co.uk, priced £40.

Also, look out for the Machine Head cover story on next week's Kerrang! magazine (cover dated 8th July).

I could think of 10 better bands who could fill their slot at Wembley. They are a studio band because their live show is horrendous. The vocals and drums were drowned out. They filled m with bore and put me to sleep.

Machine head is amazing. Solos to halo and aesthetics of hate give me shivers every time. Hate thier videos cuz they act like rappers but w/e i dont watch videos anyway. I'm happy they are having so much success right now

Hell yeah, Machine Head are a quality band and truly deserve to be on this bill. They are gonna bring the house down beore Metallica even turn up =].

I still don't see the logic in having HIM on the bill although it will be intresting to see the reaction to them.

Mastadon are an amazing and very exciting band and i hope they severly kick @$$ (sorry for the stupid looking word) at this gig.

Metallica are one of my all time favourite bands, i expect that they will put on an amazing show but they may be tired cause they are doing live earth the day before.
