Eh... that's about how I feel. I might go for COB, Behemoth, Machine Head, and Amon Amarth. I wasn't going to go last year until they put Motorhead on the bill, and then I got my ticket in a heartbeat. Unfortunately people were booing them, so it made the experience kinda suck.
They booed Motorhead? What kind of sick, ****ed up world do we live in that these people that call themselves "metalheads" think that some shitcore is better than real metal?
I'd ask where it was just so next time we can egt some motorhead fans from around the world to happily show them what Rock and F'n Roll, according to our lord Lemmy, is about. In short lets get up there and "Overkill"
I'd be scared if I were you. RJA were inspired by better bands than WARThead (Their singer has bad wart problems on his face) Look up "Face Down" by RJA that's what true metal is all about. You don't wanna be in one of those moshpits. Motorhead is full of old unattractive dudes that cant get chicks
RJA - you got to be kidding me!! That sorry band you like dosen't deserve to be intialized. Motorhead FANS get all the chicks they want. Lemmy could take a red jumpsuit and wipe his apparatus with that lame a** band
Wow.....dude I thought you liked bands like Converge, D.R.I., Rage Against the Machine and such....wtf is this horse shit. Someone hacking your profile? hahahahhaha RJA metal lmao...
You do know that Lemmie is one of the most....uh, sexually experienced dudes on the planet right? Besides, an RJA pit would be soft, come to Australia and go see a In Hearts Wake show, or a Northlane show. I'd say go in a Slayer pit, but you think RJA is a good pit, you'd get torn apart.
I had 2 teenagers in front of me on their iPods talking about how the bass was too high and sounded like a guitar.. They sat there throughout Slayer too, waiting for Slipknot. I mean, these were ~$110 pit tickets..
And this is now the number one reason why deathcore (with the exception of All Shall Perish) should disband and never record again. No if you'll excuse me, down votes await me!
I really don't like motorhead live anymore.. they sucked bigtime on Rock am Ring 2010, you couldn't hear a word he was singing and the bass was way too loud so other instruments were hard to hear as well.
I don't really mind Motionless in WHite. I saw Emmure live once though, at the Trespass America tour. They were boring as hell, me and my friends got bored, got drinks, hung out, etcetera.
Welcome to Australian festivals! You guys have no idea how unappreciative you sound saying stuff like that, most Aussies would be there in a heartbeat! Even if it were only two bands they wanted to see.
Love articles like this. The music snobs really come out and let you know what music you're supposed to like. It's like that friend who gets on you for the beer you drink cause they're really in to "ethnic" and imports. He thinks he's being diverse and knowledgeable but really ends up sounding like a dbag.
Glad to see Machine Head still out on the road after all that shit, interested to see who they might pull as support(s) on bass.
Lineup is average though, I'd personally only see CoB, JFaC and Behemoth along with Machine Head.
I used to love going to festivals for just the atmosphere in general, but there still needs to be a majority of bands I like playing.
Mastodon is pretty good, but the vast majority of the other bands don't even qualify as valid metal IMO. The kids these days need to learn that heavy guitars and screaming, and Heavy Metal are NOT synonymous terms. Having heavy guitars and an ******* poseur yelling at the helm doesn't make you metal.
i agree with the above comment but you should check out Machine Head and if youre into black/death metal check out Behemoth. those bands along with Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom are the only good bands on this list IMO
*although ive never seen them live, recordings are pretty good. And Zombie's live shows are ****in nuts. Saw him last time on the tour and it was well worth it
Definitely not the best lineup.. I have never been to mayhem and was so excited for this year but not am just disappointed. IMO they should reverse the main stage lineup Amon amarth, mastodon, 5fdp and then rob zombie!
So Machine Head and Mastodon have been on this tour since it started, and ahve both gotten best metal ablum awards during that time, and yet are STILL not on the main stage? dafuq dudes? Rob Zombie hasn't been relevant since ...maaaybe the late '90s. Guy hasn't released new album in almost 8 years....
Face it the main stage should have: CoB, Machine Head, and Amon Amarth (not necessarily in that order). Some of these other bands aren't even metal ffs!
Dude Rob Zombie put out a cd in 2010 and has a new one coming out next month. Just because you don't listen to a band/artist, that doesn't mean their irrelevant.
yeah I did forget mastodon, not sure how I did that. Also, Rob Zombie released a remaster of his first album in 2010, so nothing new. counting a re-release as a new album is both lame, and nonsense.
I'm pretty siked on this lineup not as good as last years but still pretty solid I've seen rob zombie before he alright I've also seen 5 finger before too not a fan but mastodon, bodom, machine head is sick....and amon amarth is the only band I haven't seen before and I'm looking forward to seeing them the most they are awesome
I saw AA when they played with Cannibal Corpse at New England Metal Fest. If they can still play the way they did then then I guarantee you wont be disappointed, they were awesome live
You f***ing kidding me? I've seen Zombie, Job for a Cowboy, Battlecross and Mastodon live, and they were all insane. Add Machine Head to that list, and you've got yourself a hell of a show man.
They went from As I Lay Dying, Motorhead, Slayer, Slipknot and Anthrax to this? There's a few awesome bands, but why is Five Finger Fist Pump on the main stage and not Machine Head?
You may forget that the headliners of the lower stages tend to switch with the lower bill on the main stage. At Mayhem 2011 in Chicago Hatebreed replaced Trivium. in 2012 The Devil Wears Prada, As I lay Dying, and Asking Alexandria rotated the main stage.
I would only go for Machine Head. There are no bands on that list that I feel anything for besides Machine Head. If I was able to afford it, I'd pay for a trip to Germany for Wacken Open Air. There's some great bands on that festival lineup.
for me, MACHINE HEAD, Children of Bodom, Mastodon... Rob Zombie always puts on good shows... Five Finger Death Punch is kinda overrated, i hate seeing "fans" of theirs at my school, who only listen to the mainstream shit... also Born of Osiris will be very interesting to see work their complexity and all that.
I'll pay the some money to see either Mastodon or Machine Head with one or two small unknown bands. Seeing those two titans in the same day is well worth the price of admission.
That there's some other good stuff is a perk.
Pumped to see Bodom (Big Laiho fan) and Ive never seen FFDP and Zombie....also Mastodon and Machinehead....But agaist the lineups the have had in the past it's a little weak. But if any of the bands I didnt mention have any good songs post them on this thread so I CAN CHECK THEM OUT!
Amon Amarth, Five Finger Death Punch, Behemoth, Born of Osiris, Machine Head, and Children of Bodom. Im going for them. This Mayhem definitely isnt the best one in its history. I wish they had Lamb of God in there
This line up is probably the worse than the 2009 line up. And at least that year had Slayer, Killswitch Engage, and Cannibal Corpse. There are some of my favorite bands (ie: Machine Head, Mastodon, Amon Amarth, Behemoth) and then you have these deathcore bands. I know that Mayhem has always been infamous for putting these dreadful metalocre and deathcore bands on the bill (Bullet For My Valentine and Suicide Silence anyone?)but Emmure? Really?
Thankfully Mayhem is part of Heavy T.O. in Canada so I'll have a much better selection of bands to check out.
I like Rob Zombie but I'm not going to go just to see him even though he puts on a good show. The main band I'd want to see is Behemoth but I don't want to throw down 50 bucks to see them for a half hour and then not really have any other bands to look forward to for the rest of the day.
