Megadeth and Slayer kicked off their tour of New Zealand and Australia yesterday (Monday, October 5) at Logan Campbell Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.
A review of the concert can be found on The New Zealand Herald web site.
Regarding Megadeth's performance, The New Zealand Herald reporter Scott Kara writes, "He may not have had the mass success of Metallica, but [Megadeth guitarist/vocalist Dave] Mustaine shows why he is one of the most revered metal guitarists around. His famously furrowed lips might be a sign of concentration, but it's his fingers that conjure up a sound that's flowery, potent and heavy all in one.
"
Along with his new axeman Chris Broderick, Megadeth storm their way through a set of old songs, with 1986's 'Devil's Island' a shout-a-long highlight, mixed with new, including the hillbilly thrash of 'Head Crusher' off new album 'Endgame'."
Megadeth's setlist was as follows:
01. Set The World Afire
02. Wake Up Dead
03. Hangar 18
04. Devil's Island
05. Skin O' My Teeth
06. Head Crusher

08. Sweating Bullets
