Maybe some American and Canadian dates will come later. Follow up to Death Magnetic please. Don't wait until the last minute and spend 5 years in the studio. That's weak. Get one up on a new cd. Pummel us James. I know you guys can do it.

why the hell would they stop?! They still put on one of the best shows ever and are attracting more and more fans with each record they bring out, and i expect there will be a new album in the next 2-3 years which will result in even more touring and even at their age, they dont seem to be tiring, so if your hoping that the beast is going to call it a day any time soon, think again bitch

ok why the hell would they give up. They still undoubtably put on one of the best live shows in the world and gain more and more fans with every record they put out. I expect they will put out a new album in the next 2-3 years, possibly sooner, they havnt ruled it out, and this will result in even more tour dates acroos the world. So if your hoping the beast will call it a day anytime soon you better think again.

Although, I've never seen Metallica live, so perhaps their is some good in their performances. Guess I'll have to see the old men in person to understand the hype.

true, didn't think about that. i'm just still bitter cause of how much of a drastic change they're albums have taken. i'll admit, the new album was alot better than some of the previous ones...

I've seen them live. Whether or not you have seen them doesn't change the fact that they need to die. Though, I don't look forward to their death nearly as much as I look forward to the death of even worse bands like AC/DC, Aerosmith, Beastie Boys, etc.

To be completely honest, live performances are truely the downfall of creativity. Being a great musician is one thing, but why shouldn't those with the creative ambition and aspirations to make great music be limited by their instrument prowess? It is for this reason I rely on studio material and not live performances to judge bands.

Regardless, Metallica was a good band, they aren't anymore. Not to mention if Metallica weren't around maybe younger bands would get the opportunity to tour the world. Idiot

I see no reason how your "live" elitism makes you a purer music fan than me. I own every Metallica album and a few of the demo's, so I'm pretty sure I know what they sound like.

Anyways, arguing with Metallica fans is no fun. It's like murdering a shell shocked soldier of the losers army.

live performances open a new realm of creativity, just look at buckethead who changes his songs a little everytime he plays them to make them better.. why be restricted by whatever you had by the time your record came out and its a great way to interact with fans

and idk how you got your head that far up your own ass but if it wasnt for metallica touring nonstop then all the younger bands that they take with them wouldnt get the chance to tour the world so use some logic before you jump on the anti-metallica bandwagon

Load and Reload just don't get the credit they deserve. People are too focused on stapling a genre to the band instead of appreciating the music. It's like saying if it's not metal, then it just sucks which is a very poor way to interpret music. The singles they put out in the 90s were very good when compared to the other hard rock songs that dropped during that time.

Obvious Troll is Obvious. Saying Death to AC/DC, Metallica, and Aerosmith definitely qualifies you as a troll, as you're obviously trying to piss of the 85% of the people on this website who like one of those bands, if you dont like them THEN GET OFF THEIR PAGE. Why ;eave comments on an article for a band that you obviously hate?

I wonder if they've completely forgotten about the existence of Australia. They were supposed to come down last time but Lars (because naturally he's the only one capable of speaking for the band, or so every 'Metallica' interview/statement makes apparent) claimed it would cost the fans too much, in reality it was actually the best time. I wonder what reason there'll be this time...

Agreed.
I thought the same thing when I saw the headline. Like "Ugh, why won't you guys just die"

Although, I've never seen Metallica live, so perhaps their is some good in their performances. Guess I'll have to see the old men in person to understand the hype.

It just shows you that they're in it for the music really doesn't it? With this MONSTER of a tour. How many Younger acts do that?

Exactly. So hush your mouth. You haven't even seen them. So please, shut up.

I've seen Metallica before, and I thought that without a doubt they were one of the top 5 worst bands I've seen to date. The drumming was terrible and off time in places, James' voice is completely shot, and it just seemed as though they were forcing tunes like "Dyers Eve".

For the 2 people on this board who have no idea what theyre talking about. Metallica will never die. Theyre bigger than ever STILL and it's not slowing down. No other band can say that. It's so obvious but there will always be a few dumb****s wihtout a clue.

I think that dogging Metallica (especially Kirk) is a way for jackasses to feel like they have some street cred around here... to pretend that they're so in-tune with music that they can "see past the hype." It's the same as jackass movie reviewers who rip apart really good films, just to look like they're too smart to be blinded by hype.

Total bull. Anyone who listens to Kirk play, or has seen Metallica live and says they "need to die" is so full of crap that it's begun to spill out of their mouths.

I've seen them twice: During the first Load tour, and just a couple months ago in Atlanta. For the most recent show, I WILL concede that James' voice was pretty shot, but it's probably from belting out those songs every night and playing every show like it's their last. I really felt like they gave it 110% the entire show, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot.)

Sorry for feeding the trolls, but there is really a lot of Kirk-bashing on this website from people who probably couldn't even get through a single one of his solos in its entirety.

also, if you insult someone by saying they are a member of the taliban you are a pro war xenophobe who thinks hearing a story on a news station gives them an extensive understanding of current events

Honsetly they are more like Slayer right now. They need to stop and just move on. Slayer won't change their style, which is why they are becoming boring and nothing special at all anymore.

Im sure your justification of waging war in the middle east is extremly well researched and im sure you have a great understanding of the events in which are taking place there, this is most predominantly illustrated by your labeling people in which do not have a taste for metallica a member of the taliban

my grammar is quite discrediting..i agree its just that i have to dumb myself down to ppl who have their heads stuck up their ass and feel that everything they say is right.

musical integrity? have u heard metallica? because its obvious to me that u heard somewhere that metallica 'sold out' and established your opinion at that time without listening it for yourself.

if your judging it by listening to their 90's stuff.. load was incredibly intriguing to listen to (not so much reload) because no one knew that they had it in them.

you cannot, under any circumstance, say that metallica dont have musical integrity just because they get paid a shit load of money for watever they put out. u cant even say that about britney spears. she obviously targets a specific audience and has earned success. whatever i hate her..im pretty sure u hate her. but whatever she does is good for the ppl that listen to her hence no musical integrity is lost.

its your ignorance that makes you sound stupid even when you try to sound smart. capitalizing letters and using big words doesnt make you sound like you know what you're talking about.

it was great talking to you. i wish you a happy life.

SOUPerman432321 wrote on 12/11/2009 - 02:30 am / quote |
Metal in general is not a form of music in which consistently harbors musical integrity

I do not care whether they are commercially successful or not.

'Selling Out' is what many bands do because the music industry is a business. Whether Metallica sold out or not is debatable, and also none of my concern because I am too preoccupied with how terrible their music is.

Your point about Britney Spears is also invalid, this just illustrates that she is excellent in business, this does not mean she has artistic merit.

Dream Theater is a commercially successful metal band that I feel harbors musical integrity although I am not a huge fan.

And using correct grammatical rules and capitalization do a hell of alot more in maintaining credibility than disregarding them

they're in the hall of fame. hooray. please be done

They sell out every single show and are still one of the most successful acts in the business, why the hell would they stop?

That would be like telling Mr. Bolt to stop running because he's already won a few medals...

So please, shut up.

how many younger acts have the money to do that? yeah hbu shut up
have you ever been in a touring band? it's not as easy as it may seem to you

metallica should keep going though

my god, everybody hates each other hahaha I reckon all these cynics and haters and even the lovers need to take a step back and understand that music and bands are about personal taste and opinion. You can say Metallica and ACDC ect ect, suck... but why express to people who plain and clear don't wanna hear it? I love Metallica and ACDC, as well as a bunch of other bands, your not gonna change my mind or anyone elses who loves them, so don't try, then bitch cos we all have a go at you, grow a dick, some balls, a brain and go find music you like and don't bother us with your bashings. METALLICA IN AUSTRALIA!!
