Metallica's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"Yes . . . finally back to South America in 2010!
"We've been having such an amazing time on the road that there is no way we're stopping now! So in the first of what will be quite a few announcements of 2010 dates, we are super psyched to confirm that we will indeed be visiting South America in the first part of the year. It is extra special because we're actually going to places that Metallica has Never played before, including our first show in the new year in Lima, Peru on January 19, 2010 at Estadio San Marcos.
"
Tickets go on sale on Saturday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. local time . . . all the details are here. Met Club [Metallica's official fan club] members should check www.metclub.com for information about their pre-sale.
"This is just the beginning . . . in fact, we're pretty sure that if you check back here in a few hours, you'll see a few more shows. Your hint for now . . . more places we have either never played or only been to once."
According to MetOnTour.com Metallica will release a new DVD featuring footage from the band's Canadian performances in Quebec City, Quebec (October 31 and November 1) and Ottawa, Ontario (November 3). Drummer Lars Ulrich commented from the stage at the second Quebec City show, "I couldn't think of a better city for Metallica to film a DVD." The concerts were filmed by the band's longtime friend and collaborator, famed video director Wayne Isham.
Metallica has set November 23 as the release date for "Francais Por Une Nuit", or "French For One Night", the full-length concert DVD that the band filmed in Nimes, France on July 7, 2009.
