Fox News is reporting Metallica join the ranks of Paul McCartney, The Who and others bands who organizers say will be signing on to perform at Wembley Stadium in London in this summer's Live Earth concerts on July 7th.
The Rolling Stones have just denied the report that they will play the show. "Not happening," a spokesman for the band said in an email (read story on UG).
Said to be included to the bill are
Metallica,
Madonna,
Red Hot Chilil Peppers,
James Blunt and
Bloc Party.
The report failed to mention The Who have a gig in Roskilde, Denmark, on July 7th, while The Stones are booked to play in Rome the night before.
Live Earth is a series of concerts that's being spearheaded by former Vice President turned environmental crusader, Al Gore to help spread his message of a Global Warming crisis. There are supposed to be seven shows on seven continents on July 7th, 2007.
Artists who have already been announced include Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Foo Fighters, Melissa Etheridge, Duran Duran, John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, Snoop Dogg, Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
