More than three months after Hotel Paper hit stores, Michelle Branch will hit the road to support it with a headlining tour.
Branch hasn't exactly been napping since the follow-up to 2001's The Spirit Room debuted at #2 on the Billboard albums chart. She supported the Dixie Chicks throughout the summer and had two Top 10 singles ? Hotel Paper's "Are You Happy Now?" and her Santana collaboration, "The Game of Love" ? keeping her profile high on the radio.
The tour begins October 2 at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and quickly merges with Boston's MIX 98.5 Mixfest, where Branch will share the FleetCenter stage with Jason Mraz, Duran Duran, Tori Amos, Train and Vertical Horizon. Confirmed North American dates end back on the higher-education tip with a gig at the University of Wisconsin on October 29. Days later, she sets off for Japan for a weeklong stint that ends November 11 in Osaka.
Branch's schedule rarely leaves room to breathe, which may have influenced the choice of "Breathe" ? an optimistic anthem featuring the singer's sleepy-eyed purring and a powerful chorus ? as Hotel Paper's next single. A video was recently shot for the song, and the track is expected to hit radio airwaves by the end of the month, according to a Maverick Records spokesperson.
Hotel Paper has sold more than 554,000 copies since its June 24 release.
