Mountain Announce Fall US Tour

Legendary rockers Mountain are going on tour. The unmistakable rock legends, featuring Leslie West on vocals/guitar and Corky Laing on drums, will be delivering their heavy rock sound across North America this fall. The duo, alongside Rev Jones on bass, is set to begin the tour on October 3 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The band, joining guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani on this jaunt, is more popular than ever before - and as a result, West and Laing are inviting fans to share an experience of a lifetime with Mountain. This exclusive Meet & Greet setting will happen before the lights go down in each market.

Mountain's new web presence has been a long time coming for the band, and it's no surprise that both West and Laing are extremely excited about it. "When Corky and I are not writing or recording, we spend a great deal of time online," says West, adding, "We've become as proficient on the internet as we are on our instruments!" He's only half kidding, as both West and Laing are committed to bringing the latest news to their fans in the most entertaining and easy to navigate way possible. "The new site is really the best way to interact with our fans, and it gives us a good idea where we still stand amongst the giants in this business. It was about time to freshen up our presence there," adds Laing.

The Meet & Greet (M&G) is only open to fans that purchase an upgrade package, and have valid tickets for Mountain's show. Freebies will be a plenty, including autographed posters and an exclusive tee shirt limited to the M&G package holders. As an added bonus, two lucky M&G guests will be invited to watch the show's encore from the side of the stage.

Mountain, known for the seminal rock classics, "Mississippi Queen" and "Nantucket Sleighride" from the early 70s, have actually been no stranger to contemporary music fans as of late. Close listens to Jay Z's "99 Problems" and Kanye West's "Barry Bonds" will unearth sampled Mountain tracks, many of which become the underlying rhythm and beat to these artists' biggest hits. It's irony not lost on Mountain guitarist Leslie West, who says, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So what is it when some of these guys pull the actual samples from some of my recorded history?" "Well," says West grinning, "its money in the bank, and platinum records on the wall! But seriously, it's nice to be recognized for more than just one song after all these years."

That song, "Mississippi Queen," released in May of 1970, has influenced more than just a generation of rockers, which followed in its wake. The song's boundless energy and rock guitar styling has also opened the musical minds of a new kind of guitar hero. Which would explain its inclusion on the third generation of the popular Activation game, Guitar Hero 3 and Harmonix's Rock Band.

"It's seems like we have finally reached our largest audience yet," says West hinting that his playing will be not soon be forgotten by many, as the impact of the song's inclusion in video games has raised the track's largest audience yet, and has opened up a new audience for these rockers. "Here's hoping some kids come out to see us," says Laing, "and they bring their parents," jokes West.
