Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will join the Boston Pops for a Tuesday (July 4) concert on the city's Charles River Esplanade, reports Reuters.
The event will air live on CBS and will be hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife, Robin. Tyler and Perry are slated to perform several Aerosmith tracks with the orchestra.
The group is nearing completion on the first phase of work on its new studio album, which should be out in the late spring or early summer of 2007.
"We're winding down the recording next week to start focusing on the Motley Crue tour," Perry told Billboard.com. "Then we'll take a couple of weeks off and start swinging into rehearsals."
"We've just been hammering away at some of these songs to try and figure out which tunes we can get close to being done," Perry added. "We've floated the idea of putting one or two songs up on the Internet as a taste of what's to come."
Perry says that once the Motley Crue tour wraps in December, the band will return to the studio to finish the album. A summer 2007 tour also is in the cards.
