Ozzy Osbourne's CD Buyers Get More Chances To Attend Ozzfest

Though this summer's Ozzfest tour will cost fans nothing to attend, those who purchase Ozzy Osbourne's first new studio album in six years, "Black Rain," will now have a better shot at getting in the door, reports Billboard.com.

The initial pressings of "Black Rain" will contain a code that will give fans first crack at scoring a ticket to Ozzfest, which begins July 12 at the White River Amphitheatre in Seattle.

"Black Rain" will arrive May 22 via Epic. Specially marked copies of the new set will be available at participating retailers. Fans will be able to use a code found within the album's packaging to redeem two Ozzfest tickets via a special web site starting June 8 -- four days before they're made available to the general public.

Ozzy and his wife Sharon created a stir back in February when they revealed Ozzfest would be a sponsor-driven, free event, and acts would be asked to play without being paid.

In addition to Osbourne, confirmed Ozzfest acts include Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, Lordi, Mondo Generator, Ankla, Circus Diablo, Nile, the Showdown, 3 Inches Of Blood, Daath, Chthonic and In This Moment. The 24-city tour wraps August 30 at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Before his headlining his stint on Ozzfest, Osbourne will play international dates beginning May 27 in Moscow. He is also one of the subjects of VH1's "Rock Honors," to be taped May 12 in Las Vegas for a May 24 premiere on the network.

But come on, The CD costs around 20€/20$ so it isn't nearly as much as those tickets should pay. And of course this will sell more CDs, but what we all heard of those clips, the new album should be damn great.

You're essentially buying tickets and a CD. So it's a good deal.

But honestly, only a few people actually complain about this. People over-react a lot. I might buy the CD, but I wouldn't go to Ozzfest. None of those bands playing sound like anything I usually listen to. And I haven't heard of any of them, except Lamb of God.

This is actually quite a smart thing for Ozzy to do. Who knows, maybe he'll even make more money this year because of all the albums he sells, sure ozzfest wasn't free in previous years, but most of the money that Ozzy made went into paying for ozzfest and all the bands involved.

Have you ever even listened to Nile, Chthonic, Hatebreed, or Daath? Nevermind, since real metal would probably be to heavy for you (and if you've actually heard of Chthonic, then I'd be suprised).

This is the best linep since 2004 when they had Slayer, Lacuna Coil, Judas Priest, and Unearth (although Atreyu and Bleeding Through kinda screwed it up).

And on a side note, I've heard that Behemoth will be playing Ozzfest, too. Whatever happened with that? Has Ozzy just not confirmed it yet?

And why aren't Black Label Society on this? I think that if Zakk were to be playing guitar with Ozzy on tour, then it wouldn't be hard to bring the rest of BLS along. Methinks they'll be announced later.

You also have to consider that, while the tickets are free, Ozzfest will be in the same venues...still with great seats, decent seats, cheapest seats, lawn...there's only one ticket per seat, and as many as can be packed into the lawn. The sooner you get tickets, the closer you'll be. The albums's a good opportunity to be right up there by the stage getting yoru ass beat in a mosh pit.
