Virtual rocking will slide into the realm of reality this fall when Panic At The Disco and Dashboard Confessional co-headline the inaugural "Rock Band Live Tour."
The MTV-produced outing, named after the popular video game, will travel across the US and visit Toronto with special guests Plain White T's and The Cab in tow. Shows are scheduled to kick off October 5 in San Diego and wrap November 14 in Houston. The full itinerary is included below. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning August 8.
Fans will also have a shot at rocking the arena stages in between bands. Groups of "
Rock Band" players will compete for the slots through local radio promotions, national contests and on-site competitions at each show.
The tour coincides with the release of "Rock Band 2," which is due in September. The game disc will feature Panic At The Disco, and all the touring acts will be part of the downloadable content pack.
Panic At The Disco wrapped the Honda Civic Tour in June and is touring abroad next month to support its sophomore album, "Pretty. Odd." The March release captured the No. 2 spot on The Billboard 200 and has spawned the pop and modern-rock hit "Nine In The Afternoon."
Dashboard Confessional mastermind Chris Carrabba has assembled a band to work on the followup to last October's "The Shade Of Poison Trees," which snagged the top spot on Billboard's independent albums chart. In a March blog posting, the frontman told fans he and a group of musicians had entered the studio with producer Adam Schlesinger to work on the project, which has no release date as of yet.
