Queen's Brian May: 'Who Knows This Might Be The Last Tour'

artist: queen date: 04/21/2008 category: upcoming tours

There is a new interview with Queen guitarist Brain May at his official website. Here is an excerpt from the chat where he talks about the upcoming Queen + Paul Rodgers tour which kicks off in Moscow during September:

"Planning a tour all depends on what is available at the right time and you always get a couple of itineraries coming your way until something is finalised. I didn’t realise it had been that long since we’d played here but I do remember playing both The Empire and The Stadium in years past very well indeed. This time around though it will be in the new Arena, which I can’t wait to see. Queen and Liverpool go back a very long way, when we used to spend half our lives on the road and sleeping on people’s floors. We played The Cavern too, of course, and have one of the bricks stencilled with the band’s name outside of the new building, which is great, but that was pretty late into our career and we’d got to the point, almost, when we thought we were never going to get asked. It was a real thrill when we were though and I’m really looking forward to playing here again. It’s pretty frightening gearing up for a tour. It's an all consuming thing once you press the button that set the wheels in motion and the beast that is Queen comes alive. But we all get the same buzz once the adrenaline starts to flow. Once the halls become available, the set design falls into place and then the rehearsals are upon you. It’s like a gathering storm of stuff that has to be done, which seemed such a long way away to when we first thought about going on the road again, last October in this case. We have to finish the new album, so there’s still plenty to do between now and when the first gigs happen, but I’m sure we’ll manage it all somehow. We always seem to. Who knows this might be the last tour, so you’d better come," he laughs.

Queen + Paul Rodgers' new album is being readied for release on September 1st. The Queen + Paul Rodgers 28-date arena tour will take in 14 countries in just seven weeks, and take the band to Northern Eurasia, Central and Southern Europe, and the UK, and is expected to wind up at the end of the year with the band’s highly anticipated return to South America, the setting of some of its most historic tours in the early 80’s.

Thanks for the info to BW&BK.com.

Got my tickets for the 14th October in Cardiff!

If this does turn out to be the last tour, they should end with a concert at the new Wembley, and John Deacon should come along.

P.S First! Wooo

Unlucky, that looked like a normal, sensible post until;

"P.S First ! Woo "

If this is their last tour, i wonder if they're going to do a reuinion(s) like Led zep, janes addiction etc .. ?

Although very disappointing, with how long they've been at it this is understandable news.

This tour looks like it'll be pretty good though, it's nice to see them out with a bang.

I just don't think its that great without Freddie, its all really good until the vocals come in, then it just sounds like a cover band. At least, thats what i think

I think they should have re-named the band, it's not Queen without Freddy Mercucry, John Deacon had the right idea of leaving after his death, I love Brian May's guitar work, but its not really Queen anymore is it?

The new album is a bad idea, in my opinion,if it didnt use the Queen monica, then it'd be ok....same with Alice in Chain, without Layne, its not Alice in Chains....

they did. The band name is now OFFICIALLY Queen+Paul Rodgers. Different name.

As for the article, the last line where he says it'll be the last was obviously a joke. Look at the context. "Who knows, this might be the last tour, so you'd better come".

He's just trying to get attendance up. It's Brian ****ing May he wouldn't let Queen die that easy.

Actually that official name change sounds kind of dumb but I agree about Freddy Mercury being pretty essential.

they did - queen with paul rogers. ie. members of queen with paul rogers. ie. paul rogers nothing to do with queen now working with queen. like queen feat paul rogers.

and its fair enough theyre all near enough 60.

Queen with Paul Rodgers is great. It's a hell of a lot better than no Queen at all.

Dude...how can you say that? Another One Bites the Dust is no way their best song. You seem to be forgetting the most famous ones like "We Are The Chapmpions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", or all the deeply moving stuff from Innuendo. I guess Queen just isn't you're style.

I'm not trying to bash Queen, cos I like them... But, lets face it - they had their run. Step down and let some younger bands have a go.

Why? There arent any young bands even half as good as them.

queen aren't queen anymore without freddie.a mean do u think that guns n roses are still guns n roses even though slah, duff, izzy and matt/(steven) aren't in it????and it's just axl.it bull crap to even think tht queen would still go on thinkng we can still do this with only TWO!!!!! real members.yes i can understand tht brian may and roger taylor still need to keep musically active but ot like this.why are they still going around with the name queen???why not name themselves sumthng diffrnt???like the queens guards or wotever.a just think tht its not fair they are touring and recording under the name queen, wen freddie was the heart and soul and no1 can replace him EVER!!!!!

jaymz_hammett :
At least there making there allowing younger generations listenin to there work live, even without the talents of freddie mercury and john deacon. i grew up listening to innuendo everyday and the fact that will always remain that nothing they do will sound that good without freddie r.i.p.
