Roger Waters' Final Brick In The Wall
Roger Waters has added one last date to his world tour of Pink Floyd epic "The Wall" promising to shake fans with the biggest outdoor set ever. He's been on the road since 2010 and has previously stated he plans to bow out after the trek ends. That was due to take place in Philadelphia on July 14. But now he's announced he'll appear in Quebec a week later and the outdoor performance will rival the one he put on 22 years ago to the day. Waters says in a light-hearted announcement video: "This July 21 in Quebec City will be a significant event to celebrate oh, f--k all that. We're coming to Quebec. "We're going to do the Wall show, but it's going to be completely unlike any other Wall shows we've done anywhere else in the world on this tour. "The Wall in Berlin was on the 21st of July 1990. This one will be different. It's going to be 800 feet wide, to make it the widest wall ever. When we did it in Berlin the end of the wall tapered off. Here it's going to look like it disappears, so we get a Great Wall of China effect. "It's something I've always wanted to do outdoors theatrically. If you don't come there's something f--king wrong with you." Waters slips into a spoof French accents as he explains about the original work: "It was a little bit self-centred. It was about moi. I later discovered it is not about moi, it is about vouz it is about tout le monde. It is a universal predicament that we find ourselves in: the walls of the media and commerce and corporate strategy separate us from the reality of our potential lives." He adds: "I'm not taking the p-ss with this," and says his attitude can be summed up in a phrase he keeps with him on a piece of paper: "I was here, I felt something, and perhaps I was not alone." Waters has also promised more pyrotechnic effects, more lighting effects and a surround-sound system to "shake the entire site". Tickets go on sale on June 5, with priority wristbands available for those who register on RogerWaters.com. Last week Pink Floyd released a video showing behind-the-scenes footage of Waters' reunion with David Gilmour and Nick Mason at his London show in 2011.
